Laundry Question

Hey mamas, ok so I just had to completely redo half a load of my daughter's laundry because of yellow spit up/drool stains! They are terrible and don't come out in the wash; I have to specially treat them with stain stuff now. Anyone else? We recently started using more formula than breastmilk...is that the cause? I don't know if I should be worried because it is so yellow? Thanks for any input!

Re: Laundry Question

  • My LO is exclusively formula fed and that only really happens if the clothes don't get washed rather soon after the spit up occurs.

  • I use oxiclean max force it even works on blow out stains that didn't come out untreated the first time around!
  • I second oxiclean it is the best.

My son is formula fed and I feel have no yellow stains. I also only do his wash once a week. We use Babyganics detergent
  • Dapple spray prewash
  • Dreft makes a stain remover now :-) LO is breastmilk only and I sometimes get stains if I dont wash right away
  • We use shout free if we aren't washing stained clothes right away
  • My daughter is breast fed but sometimes when her poo creeps out the sides and gets on her onesie I use dreft stain remover. That stuff is amazing! I just bought some and I don't remember the price. I wash her clothes once or twice a week (she's got tons of clothes) and I will spray that on about 5 min before I wash and like magic it's gone!!
  • Oxi clean! The stains from formula suck but I haven't had too much problems with them coming out with oxi and tide.

  • I use shout to pretreat blow outs and Ecos laundry detergent works great.
  • I use a babyganics stain remover stick and use the presoak setting on my washer.
  • If you wash and the stains haven't come out, lay the clothes in the sun. It works wonders. Harder to do in the winter depending on where you live though
  • Thanks everyone! I'm cheap and use my own laundry stain remover made with hydrogen peroxide, which gets the stains out! I'm more just worried about the color...? My baby has some crazy spit up issues and I wondering if the yellow color could possibly be bile? I've been suspecting acid reflux for a while, and I'm just wondering if I should insist with my pediatrician that we need to do something (he says some degree of reflux is normal for most babies and usually doesn't require any sort of intervention, but she seriously spits up almost everything she ate at least with once a day and spits up at least a little with every feeding).
  • If her clothes get washed quickly they don't stain, but I do spray SHOUT on them if it's bad.
  • My guy is formula fed, has acid reflux and doesn't spit up yellow. What he does spit up comes out in the laundry- I use gain or tide whatever is on sale. I do laundry everyday. Yeah I'm thinking there's more to it if you lo has yellow spit up. Hope dr can figure it out and all is ok.
  • We use a mixture of dish detergent, peroxide, baking soda, and water in a spray bottle for poop stains. I'm sure it would work for spit up too

That's kind of worrying to me!! Thanks for letting me know though. The stains aren't always yellow, just occasionally. She seems happy and doesn't ever act uncomfortable when she spits up, so I guess I'll ask at our 4 month appointment!
