December 2015 Moms

Will this baby ever come?

I'm only 40+3 right now. But I feel like this child is never coming. And it seems like everyone else already has their babies! I've tried walking, bouncing on the birth ball, raspberry leaf tea, evening primrose oil, etc. nothing. Haven't tried sex only because DH has had a cold sore on his lips and I've been too afraid to be by it.

Re: Will this baby ever come?

  • We are (over)due date buddies. I understand how you feel. I can't wait to meet this baby girl. It's so hard to be patient, but baby will come. My midwife will only let me go to 42 weeks, so I am crossing my fingers and toes that she comes on her own before then, because I would really like to avoid an induction. So really, at the most I will be waiting 10 more days. That feels like a lot right now, but considering we already waited 9 months, what is 10 more days?

Good luck to you and keep us posted!

  • You don't need to kiss for sex :) the semen is the good part, lol! If you have a breast pump you might want to give it a try as well, nipple stimulation may help.
  • Right there with you. 40w and 6 days today with an induction scheduled for Friday. So reluctant to be induced and just wishing this kid would vacate! Feeling very sad....
  • I'm 40 weeks on Wednesday and getting induced the same day. I wish my body would go into labor naturally, but all I've been feeling are Braxton Hicks. I feel like this kid will never come out on his own.

Any baby yet? I'm still waiting! Have several meltdowns, and family keeps asking me when this baby is coming as if I have control over it!
    Very frustrating
  • No baby yet. It's almost like she doesn't know that she is supposed to get out. This isn't a permanent arrangement kid!

I had my membranes stripped yesterday, and I think my water broke this morning, with some definite bloody show, so I am hopeful. My midwife is giving me 24 hours to get labor started before they intervene. It's been 12 so far and nothing is happening :(
  • I am in the same boat ladies! Stay strong!
  • Aww, do we have to move over to January 16 group tomorrow!? :'( This whole gestation thing now spans 2 years. WOOF to that. Get ouuuuuut, bebe!
  • Yeah, I am definitely going to be a January mama now. But I am sticking with D15. There are so many good threads here about newborn stuff since almost everyone has already had their babies. I feel like these mamas have lots of good experiences to share, so I am sticking around for sure.
  • @Alyssaerin996 We're just super cool and get to be on D15 AND Jan16!

Like some other ladies have mentioned, I would like to avoid being induced too. I read something last night that said stress could keep the body from going into labor. When I stop to think about it, I was really stressed about work, family, unfinished projects, etc. So, I've resolved (it IS a new year after all) to take it easy by trying to relax, requesting lots of backrubs, meditating, and trying to de-stress. At this point, I can let go of the fact that she will not be born in 2015....so now I just need to go with the flow!
  • @NewMom42 It's a great point. I have been holding on to all sorts of pre-conceived notions about this baby's arrival (I want her 2 weeks early. I want her before Xmas. I just don't want to be in the hospital ON Xmas. I want the tax break. I want, I want, I want). Then yesterday I was so sure she was coming that when I woke up today very much still pregnant, I immediately had a chip on my shoulder. I need to let go. Thanks for some New Years Day perspective!!

I think I will go treat myself to a yummy breakfast beverage at Starbucks. MAYBE even spring for some whipped cream. ;)

    Happy 2016 ladies!
  • Hey ladies,

I've been reading this thread for a while, but hesitated to join until I was actually overdue. Well today I'm 40+1 and no longer straddling the December/January line like you all were as well (unless some had surprises in the last few hours)!

My midwife doesn't do cervical checks unless it's insisted upon as it can often mean nothing for where you're actually at...however baby is engaged.

I didn't want to try any at home methods until I officially reached my due date, but yesterday I tried to do everything I could. Things I plan on doing are sex every day, bouncing on the birth ball, RLT 2-4 times a day, dates (although I don't like them), I'm going to grab some pineapple next grocery shop, walking, and clary sage on the belly. After trying all this yesterday I had Braxton hicks irregularily and painlessly for 5 hours or so...wasn't at home to do nipple stimulation like my midwife suggested when BH is happening, but I'll do it today if everything sets of BH.

I know, I know - baby will come when he's ready...just trying to get him as ready as I can lol

I love the positive attitudes of just relaxing into 2016, hopefully we have success with that!!
