I'm looking at purchasing a car seat, but there are so many to choose from! Obviously safety is the main thing and would like to RF for as long as possible, can anyone point me in the right direction? P.S i have a small car. TIA.
I have a small car as well. My mom got me the chicco key fit 30. I love it. It has great ratings. It is not so light, but I haven't held too many to compare. It is easy to snap into its base, and easy to clean. She got it on sale on a military base, but usually I think it might be a tad more expensive than others. I love my stroller so far that it snaps into also.
Are you looking for an infant carrier car seat (that clicks in and out of the base and you can take it and baby inside), or are you looking for a car seat that stays in the car?
I have graco click connect and it fits great in our car but we have a large car. We bought LO's next car seat because we had gift cards and it was an open box sale. It's the graco 3-in-1. Don't know fit or anything yet though.
All car seats meet federal safety standards so they are all safe if used correctly. To make sure they are used correctly it has to be installed correctly and adjusted corrected to fix baby. Usually more expensive car seats have extra features to make installation and adjusting easier, so it is more likely used correctly and therefore safer in actual practice. Another factor to keep in mind for safety is to keep kids rear facing. Kids usually outgrow the height for a seat before the weight, so convertable seats with higher high limits can be safer if used correctly. For an infant seat I went with the Graco click connent. My model is not very easy to adjust, but since it comes in the house I don't mind. For my toddler I spent more money on the chicco next fit, very easy to install and adjust. Also the headrest extends so he can continue to rear face after 2. I would highly recommend it.
Edit... for convetable seat heights check out the link below and check the internal height measurement. That is the measurement of the back of the seat not the height of the child. https://www.car-seat.org/forumdisplay.php?f=66
I have a Chevy Cobalt 4 door. For infant carrier we have a Chicco Keyfit 30 with the caddy and I love it. After that we are transitioning to the Graco 4-ever, haven't used it yet.
