Green/ yellow stringy discharge

Last Saturday when I wiped, I had greenish yellow stringy discharge. It never happened again and it didn't smell. I went to my obgyn and he said I had a little yeast. I was wondering if anyone else had this. I was thinking it was part of my mucous plug.

  • Sounds like your doctor wasn't concerned. I'm glad you sought medical care. As for it being part of your mucous plug, I personally doubt it based on my experience of that being jelly-like. Either way, I believe losing part of it is quite normal, it will "regenerate," and doesn't mean you're in preterm labor (particularly since this was 6 days ago and you haven't reported any other issues). You could ask your doctor what it would mean IF it was part of your mucous plug for reassurance?

  • As pp said, I don't think it was part of your mucus plug- your mucus plug wouldn't be green. I know your doc said it was yeast but yeast generally wouldn't be green or stringy... Yeast is sometimes yellow, but it is usually white and clumpy. You may want to have your doc check you for BV just in case.
  • That's what I thought but it had no odor and only the one wipe. He put it under a microscope to look at it so I guess I will just see if I have anymore. I will see if it continues
  • I am so glad you posted this, seriously. I wanted to post about it here when it happened but I was too scared to! When i was 13.5 weeks, I also had green discharge, it wasn't stringy necessarily but my doctor also did tell me it was yeast, so they treated me for that and it went away. I freaked out at first because you really only ever hear bad stuff about green discharge, so it was a relief to know that it was just a yeast infection. Now I'm 22.5 weeks and it has not come back at all.
  • I am glad you were told the same thing! I almost didn't believe him. I've never heard of yeast being greenish.... And I had no other symptoms. Thanks for your reply!
  • Yeah exactly I had never heard of it either, I would look up green discharge and the only thing that would come up were STD's so it really made me nervous. The doctors did an internal exam and ended up giving me an ultrasound because it was quite bad and they wanted to make sure it wasn't up in my uterus too. It made me feel like a really gross and unclean person which I'm not, it was definitely hard to deal with.
  • Mucus plug is milky or clear-ish.
