Reduced urination trips in second trimester?

Hi,

I am FTM at 18 weeks 4 days. I had at least 4 urination trip at night (every 2 hours) till about 17 weeks even though I didn't drink water before going to bed. But from last few days it has reduced to only 2 trips even though I drink lots of water just before I go to bed. Also the frequency has reduced during the day. I read online that this is common in 2nd trimester but I am little worried since I have also not felt any definite movement yet (just flutters but not sure) does anyone experience this?

  • Agreed. My middle of the night trips have definitely fallen off. Probably just rearranged internally so not as much pressure right now!
  • As your uterus rises it might be putting less pressure on your bladder which could explain the less frequent bathroom trips. But who knows!

  • The hormones from 1st trimester have leveled out and the baby isn't big enough to really push on your bladder yet (supposedly...mine likes to hang out there already). Enjoy the break for the few weeks you get it!! :)

Thank you everyone for your replies. Gives some relief :)
  • I have a friend who's 7 weeks ahead of me - I have to pee constantly, and she's always fine. She's also carrying really high, and I'm just starting to show, but seem much lower than her so far, so I'm guessing that my baby's sitting right on top of my bladder while other people may be holding the baby up high enough to have less pressure coming down. Because I have to pee SO OFTEN, but it's not always very much. It just feels like my bladder is always being squeezed a little.

You're going to drive yourself crazy if this worries you. Please at least for me (chronic night pee-er) enjoy it while it lasts. It is normal to just feel flutters as far along as you are right now. As with the peeing...Enjoy that while it lasts too bc LO is about to become the best boxer and soccer player your insides will ever see.

  • 22-23 weeks, carrying low, feeling lots of pressure still, always peeing! Everyone has been telling me the peeing 4+ times a night will stop soon but it hasn't. I think it's normal for it to be better in the second trimester but it just hasn't happened for me. Feeling like baby is always dancing right on my bladder. Enjoy the pee freedom while you have it!
  • 21 weeks and I think baby has moved up some and is getting off my bladder. My bump was lower. Week before last I was in the bathroom once an hour and it hurt if I didn't go. This week it at least two hours in between ( water drinking maybe a little slack). Baby does not like when my bladder is full. Will start kicking if I don't use the bathroom fast.
  • Yes. First trimester, I was up every hour - sometimes every 30 minutes (I have an overactive bladder to begin with). I'm down to about 3-4 times a night now.

  • P.S., I'm 21 weeks tomorrow and didn't even really start feeling the baby at all until 19/20 weeks. I still just get intermittent flutters. It's normal.

  • Ok this is not related to pee . . . @saladflambe I LOVE your cat sigs! I just sat here for 5 minutes watching and laughing! So cute.
  • 3-4+ times a night?! I'm sorry ladies, that stinks! With DS even at the end when there was no space for anything the most I ever had to pee was probably twice during the night and that probably wasn't even that often. I carried high with him so maybe that helped. This time around I think I'm carrying a little lower but I still only have to pee once a night if that so far.

  • First trimester I was going up to 5 or 6 times a night! And now... Maybe two weeks now (I'm 19 weeks) it's about 2 trips to pee throughout the night! I'm loving it! I assume as baby is getting bigger and sitting higher (for me he's Been hanging out near my belly button) I'm also finding my bladder is actually able to get really full again! Where before I peed all the time and I felt like barely anything came out! Lol :)
