I agree! I am so happy I'm due end of January and I won't be in the gym until mid March when everyone quits on their resolution.
The people wanting inductions before their due date for no reason other than they are uncomfortable are ridiculous. We're all huge and uncomfortable. Suck it up, buttercup.
The people who want to be induced or have a csection because "baby is measuring big." 1) 8# is not big. Bigger side of average, yes, but not big. 2) Those measuring estimates are guesses and COMPLETELY wrong more often than not. My doctor doesn't even do them.
Oh and stop bitching about dilation and effacement or lack thereof. It means nothing!
I don't understand the obsession with watching every possible sign of labor. Unless you are having consistent contractions for a good period of time stop flipping worrying! The baby is not just going to fall out and if it does just call 911! Blah!
My baby is big and doc has scheduled csection. Not everyone wants a section but their bodies can't physically birth them. Narrow pelvis with overly large head = baby in distress. So please keep that in mind. Baby is anticipated to be 11 lbs by the time of the csection. It's depressing to be looked down upon for having a section because of his size. Yes, I feel shamed by people. But my doc along with my high risk OB have agreed this is the best mode for baby.

I'm not sure how true this is... Considering it's usually the on call doctors that will deliver anyways if you go into labor at an odd time...
My doc doesn't do the 9 to 5. I don't have some hack as an OB. If I didn't trust their opinions I wouldn't go to the practice. Each of the doctors are highly respected and spoken of in the highest regard by every other Doctor I have worked with. Not all doctors are crappy. Some women DO need csections and it's a shame that we are made to feel like we go to crap doctors because of it. I seriously feel ashamed to tell people that i am having a csection because I'm usually told "oh doctors do that because they want it on their schedule". What about when it is in the best interest of the mother? I highly doubt the two high risk OBs that I have been seeing over the last 6 months that will not be delivering me care about my regular OBs 9 to 5. Sorry, i just feel like women are being judged and shamed for csections. I would love a natural birth. I took the classes and have read everything I can get my hands on. Watched the videos. Now I get told I have a bad doctor because my doctor recommends a csection. We can't all have normal sized bodies and babies. If it was a sudden jump in size it would be one thing. But he's been varying 98th and 99th percentile since 20 weeks.
That's your choice, but it's my opinion your doctor is doing it for their conscience. Considering the further along you are the less accurate ultrasounds are. I get weekly ultrasounds only to measure amniotic fluid and to give a very rough estimate of how big my baby is, but my OB also has measured my belly since 10 weeks as is protocol with diabetics. I just think you should still try for the birth you want vs only going for a c-section.
However you are not an OB or a HROB. This is exactly my point. Why can't people be supportive of others instead of telling them their OB is selfish and only thinking of themselves? This practice really encourages vaginally unmedicated births. They are the reason why we took natural birthing classes that promote med free births. But I'm sure you know more about my practice and doctor than I do. Way to try and make a person feel awful about themselves. Much appreciated. I also have weekly ultrasounds because of excessively high fluid levels, previous failures of biophysical profile, large size, and because my baby has an elevated risk for heart defects. I also had an assisted conception with a fair share of specialists, tests, procedures, miscarriages, surgeries, infertility, etc over the last 9 years. Not everyone is blindly following someone just because it says MD behind their name. Please consider that some people DO know what they are talking about and not just dismiss them.
An 8# baby may not seem big to some people but to a woman that is very petite, that is big. My mom is only 4'8" and had a very hard time delivering my sister when she was 7#. Also when you have a short torso, an average size baby can be down in the pelvis, and also up in your ribs. Everyone gets uncomfortable while being pregnant, but every woman is also in a different situation.

I have a narrow pelvis and with my first they did a growth ultrasound and said he'd be between 10 and 11lbs. He was born vaginally at 40 weeks at 8lbs4oz. Growth ultrasounds are notoriously inaccurate toward the end.
It sounds like you have other risk factors that they are taking into consideration, but I still think a big baby estimate is a ridiculous reason to schedule a c-section.
@Wicked4589 it sounds like you are doing what is best for you and your baby and that's what it comes down to. I would trust the doctors who have been caring for me the whole time and know my medical history and limitations over an Internet stranger. There is no shame in having a c-section because that is what is medically recommended by your doctor. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for getting appropriate medical care and doing what YOU deem best for your family. I hope everything goes well!
My UO is I HATE fireworks.. Always have. Only now there is a newborn in my house....I hate them even more.. If any of them wake him up- crazy momma will surface... I don't see the significance of fireworks to bring in a new year.. Just throw confetti

Oh my God I am right there with you. I currently have 4 dogs, 3 of which are 70+ lbs laying on on top of me while trying to get comfortable with all of these stupid BH. As if breathing wasn't hard enough...

There is no shame in having a c-section because that is what is medically recommended by your doctor.
