Anyone take macrobid for uti?

I just finished a week of macrobid for a uti. The entire week I was so nauseated and sick. I figured it was early morning sickness but I woke up Sunday feeling better (my last pill was Friday night).
I do not feel great, just better. I can eat and drink water without gagging. Now I am worried I may have a decrease in hormones that is causing me to feel better, which is obviously not good. I am hoping someone else can verify they too were sick on Macrobid since it seems to be a common side effect. I am just being paranoid, but I do not have my 1st DR appt till 9 weeks!

Google says it's safe for pregnancy.  So prolly just the pills, since you say that's a side effect.

  • Safe for 1st tri not in 3rd tri though

  • I had frequent UTIS when I was pregnant with my son and took Macrobid more than I cared to.

I don't remember feeling sick because of it, but please call your doctor and let him or her know your concerns. Make sure that you eat with it, as well.

  • I get UTI's ALL the time. For a while my doctor would prescribe Macrobid. I remember a couple years ago it didn't seem to bother me, but this year I took it a few times, and I would vomit almost 15 minutes after I would take a pill. That stuff was HORRID on my stomach. From then on out I told my doctor no more. I have heard Macrobid is one of the worst when it comes to making people sick, and it definitely is to me.

  • I take it to prevent uti's after sex preventatively. Obviously, small dose. I do stop it two weeks before I get my cerclage out just in case, however my doctor has never mentioned me stopping it. I am too worried about the bleeding issue with the baby that cutting my husband off is no big deal.
  • Taking it now. This is my second attempt to rid of the infection.
  • Honestly, knowing what I know now, I'd just opt for an injection and get it over with. Good luck.
