A bit of an Intro & Spotting Concerns

Let me start this by saying that this is my first pregnancy and the little one is a bit of a miracle.  I was told that the likelihood of me ever conceiving were extremely low since I have polycystic ovarian syndrome.  I had given up the possibility of ever conceiving after nearly 7 years of TTC with my ex-husband.

Since December 17th, I have had spotting off and on.  The 17th was the worst of it, though.  Thankfully none of it has even been enough to completely cover a panty liner.  I was advised to go to the ER on the 17th and wound up having a fair number of follow up ultrasounds and testing of my HcG levels in the days following that.  The first couple of ultrasounds they weren't seeing the little one, just the gestational sac and the yolk sac.  Suffice it to say that I was a worried wreck.

I had my 3rd ultrasound this past Monday (12/28) and we finally saw the embryo (Yay!) and the heartbeat.  By the original measurements and my LMP, we were under the impression that I was 6w6d.  However with this scan, they showed me at 6w3d.  Not a terribly huge difference.  Getting to see everything was such a huge relief.  My only concern now is the fact that I still every so often have a little bit of spotting going on, including today.  My best friend said that with her first she had no idea she was pregnant until her 2nd trimester because she had been "having periods" the whole time.  Hearing that was certainly comforting, but it doesn't make the spotting any less scary or worrisome.  The midwife says that everything looks fine and as long as the spotting doesn't look like fresh blood (bright red or deep red), all is well.

Anyone else experiencing this?
