How far along confusion

I'm a little confused over here. Today, I'm at 12dpo and I got a positive test yesterday. FF has my due date set to 9/9, and when I put this into The Bump, it's calculated that I'm 3+ weeks. How can this be possible considering I ovulated less than 2 weeks ago. I've also noticed, in other threads here, ladies that post that they are 9 and 12 dpo are also 3 weeks along. How can this be? Am I missing something?? I've not yet missed my period (due this Saturday) so I cat go by lmp yet. Maybe I'm just being a total noob, but this just not making sense to me! Thoughts? And thanks!

So you go off of your last period you had before the positive test. So for me, that was Dec 2nd.
With dating a pregnancy, they start counting at the date of your last period.
    Today I am 4 weeks pregnant/15dpo.

It's not extremely accurate as some/most women don't ovulate on the typical 14th day.

*ETA: LMP stands for "last menstrual period"

  • @reesaXden Thanks for the response! But I think I'm still confused. If you ovulated 15 days ago (approx 2 weeks) how can you be 4 weeks along already? I'm sorry if I'm missing something obvious here!

Okay, so one other thought. When we say we are x weeks along, is that including the weeks before ovulation? I think I've always assumed that the weeks along # referred to how long is been since you implanted (or ovulated). Maybe?

Edit: @reesaXden I just now got that this was what you were explaining! Thanks for your help!

When someone says they're x weeks pregnant, it includes prior to ovulation. So for example, you could be three weeks pregnant, but the fetal age is one week.
  • Gottcha! Thanks @katetastrophem! Woo hoo then, father along than I thought
  • It confused me for a while also don't feel bad!! I can give a precise date for my pregnancy because it was a FET with 5 day blasts but every doctor will still calculate it based on the first day of my last period....

My little snowflake(s) are exactly 2 weeks 3 days but I'm considered 3 weeks 6 days based on my period.
