Win: Tell me about your best day during the break so far (holiday related or not).
Christmas day & boxing day were great although I wasn't able to spend those days with any of my family, but on the 28th we went shopping the sales and I managed to get a dreamy Barbour jacket for a dreamy price!
Wine: In the spirit of the new year, what is your favourite bubbly drink?
I like most things pink.
Whine: Is there something about your house/apartment that annoys you, needs replacing, or could just plain use some improvement?
If it had an extra bedroom that would be perfect but unfortunately it only has one so will will definitely have to move when I get KU. At that point we will probably move back to Yorkshire.
I'm up organizing my Christmas decorations into bins so I'll play:
Win: My best day was yesterday. The bins for ornaments and wreaths were on sale on target. I've been able to condense so much of the clutter in the basement and my OCD heart is happy.
Wine: I've been loving the drunken apple cider recipe which consists of white wine, apple cider, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla bean. Add the wine to a crock pot after the other ingredients come to a boil on the stove top. Keep the crock pot on warm and enjoy the day
Whine: My house is big and nobody sat me down and explained I have clean this place myself. Rookie home buyer mistake.
Win: I really enjoyed spending time with my family. We see them often, but it's usually only for a couple hours when we do. It was nice to see them and not feel rushed.
Wine: I'm having company over this weekend and I may try out this new treat @Itsnotyourturn. Sounds awesome!
Whine: We're having our basement redone in two weeks. I'm actually pretty pumped about it. We've been in our house almost 6 years and the basement has been just a wasteland since. Now we'll have proper storage, a play room for the boys and a second bathroom.
Other than that, our upstairs bathroom could use a remodel. A fresh coat of paint and a new vanity and I'll be happy.
Win: Tell me about your best day during the break so far (holiday related or not). Christmas eve started out pretty blah, I had to work which I've never had to do on Xmas eve before so I was pretty bummed. I ended up leaving early, baking ALL THE COOKIES and having a nice dinner with my fam. It turned out to be a good day:)
Wine: In the spirit of the new year, what is your favourite bubbly drink? Diet Coke? No, but really.
Whine: Is there something about your house/apartment that annoys you, needs replacing, or could just plain use some improvement? We're still in an apartment and not quite ready to buy which makes me sad. We're upgrading to a larger apartment in a few weeks because we're just out growing the one we're in and should we get KU, we'll have an extra bedroom. If not, we'll have a kick ass guest BR. The apartment is fine but it has fake laminate countertops and they are GROSS. I don't need granite, I'm not super fancy, I just need something other than plastic. Edited because I haven't finished my coffee yet.

Win: Last Saturday we had a lovely day - my mom was in town and we went to see The Color Purple on Broadway (my Xmas surprise to mom and DH. Such a fantastic show!), then later had dinner and saw The Big Short at a good friend's place and then after that, my other good friend who was in town from across the country stopped by our place with his wife and friends! Great day seeing of friends, family and the arts.
Wine: Gonna have to go with Lambrusco!! Yum....
Whine: I'm kind of obsessive about interior decor....so in my mind everything could use improvement! But first on my list is getting dining chairs. We have none!

Win: Tell me about your best day during the break so far (holiday related or not). The week before Christmas the DH and I finished our shopping and it actually went smoothly. Had a lunch date and got him to try a little country style restaurant which we now love. Then we spent a bunch of $ on the dogs
Wine: In the spirit of the new year, what is your favourite bubbly drink? I actually prefer red wine. Bordeaux is my favorite...dry and french.
Whine: Is there something about your house/apartment that annoys you, needs replacing, or could just plain use some improvement? The place we're renting is a 50's block style house. The genius that remodeled it turned the garage into a room and put a door in. Now there's literally no traffic space...We can only fit a love seat and small entertainment center in the living room and my dining room table is crammed against the wall. The worst part is there's no pantry, only 6 cabinets total for storage, one outlet, and 1 counter...that's just horrible when you make your own stuff like butter and breads. I miss counter space

Win: All the days are great when you're off work and it's the holidays. But I loved yesterday. DH, DS, and I went out for a nice lunch at a hibachi place, then spent the afternoon at Dave & Busters. DS had never been there and he had a blast. Then we came home and watched a movie, and after DS was in bed, DH and I stayed up way too late watching Making a Murderer. Just a really nice quality time family day.
Wine: Diet Pepsi, haha. I'm not one for bubbly.
Whine: We just need more room. I bought this house when it was just DS and I, about 6 months before I met DH, when I never would have dreamed I would be married and TTC within two(ish) years. It's nice enough, of course there are some updates needed but nothing major, and it was what I could comfortably afford on my own. But we have no storage, no family room, no formal dining, and a pretty small yard. We will start house hunting in the next few months and hopefully all of those things will change.

Win: Christmas Eve. It's my bday, I went downtown to see the nutcracker w/DH then had my favorite dinner at my dads house.
Wine: The grocery store by our house has all of these fresh pressed fruit juices that they mix in house. We don't get them often because they are super $$, but for special occasions I will get the the apple raspberry juice, mix with champagne, and add a few raspberries. It's like crack.
Whine: Our backyard. It sort of slopes and after rain (like we have had for the last month), it's a swamp. Our dogs come in all muddy and gross, tracking dirt all over the house. I have been mopping at least once a day.
Win: We may have finally found the perfect house! Plus the guy just dropped the price by $20k because he is desperate to sell before it gets foreclosed on.
Wine: I love sparkling sweet reds.
Whine: There is alot of work that needs to be done at our current apartment. The landlord refuses to pay a professional to do any work and instead has her kids do it. They couldn't even put peel and stick Pergo down right, and the random huge spaces between tiles, buckles, and tiles that got stuck over the edges of another drive me nuts.
Win: My favorite day from the holiday break was Christmas Eve. My Dad came over in the morning and we hung out all day. I have been dying to introduce him to the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, so we binge watched the whole season.
Wine: Mimosas. For my bridal shower, my Mom did this whole mimosa bar, with fresh fruit and different kinds of juices and now the family begs her to do it for every gathering.
Whine: We bought our house about a year and a half ago, and to this day, most of the rooms don't have furniture. We have two extra bedrooms, a formal living room and formal dining room that are completely empty. We bought the essential furniture we needed when we moved in but now I'm ready to just spend the money and get some furniture because I still don't feel 100% settled in since half the house looks like we just moved in yesterday.
@Itsnotyourturn I'm going to have to go to Target today and get some bins if they're on sale. This year, I opened up the bins and some of my ornaments were broken since I had overstuffed them last year!
@sLass42 I feel your pain about no pantry or counterspace. Our last place had no pantry, so we had to use a few of the cabinets for food, which meant all the dishes were overflowing from the cabinets and it always felt like our kitchen was a mess.
Win: Christmas Eve with DH's family went really well and was a lot of fun!
Wine: I'm a sucker for champagne and most sparkling wines! (I'm primarily a beer drinker.)
Whine: We built a house a little over a year ago and all the walls are still builder's grade white. Blah! I'm more than ready to get some paint on the walls!
Win: I love Christmas with my family, but December 26th I got to spend the day alone in my pajamas marathoning Harry Potter (after watching the Doctor Who Christmas special) and getting my house back in order. It was lovely.
Wine: I work for a French company and they drink DP like water, so I'm kind of over Champagne. I do love a good beer though! Currently obsessed with Southern Tier Live.
Whine: We just moved into a house built in 1942 from the original owner that needed a LOT of updating. We gutted the kitchen, refinished the hardwood floors, knocked out a wall, ripped out the carpet on the staircase, and my uncle built us some insanely gorgeous new banisters before we moved in. We still have a hideous bathroom filled with dark wood and wall paper that has tiles missing from the shower/tub that we're using as a half bath, so that is the next big project when we save up an extra 10K. In the meantime I have paint that needs touching up that I want to get to this month.
Win: Tell me about your best day during the break so far (holiday related or not). Hmm, loved skiing fresh powder, also got to ski with a new friend.
Wine: In the spirit of the new year, what is your favourite bubbly drink? I really love good champagne.
Whine:
Is there something about your house/apartment that annoys you, needs
replacing, or could just plain use some improvement? Our house is a good house everything works and functions, but when we bought it was all builder basic. So we have been slowly improving on that we have done the floors and lights. Next we will update the bathroom or kitchen.
Win: Christmae Day- we spent the entire day with both of our families and it was absolutely perfect.
Wine: I love mimosas but I'm more of a beer drinker. I love craft beer and like to try our new kinds on a regular basis.
Whine: Our kitchen counters are white and so is our sink. From a distance, I love it. But when I get close to it, I feel it is never clean enough. Food and junk stick out soooo much and I'm constantly cleaning it. I would love to put in a stainless steel sink and I think we plan to do so soon.

Win: we all had the flu last week and Christmas Day was the first day I got up and the room didn't spin. Plus the sun was out so DS got to ride his new balance bike.
Wine: bring on the mimosas. DH and I have a NYE tradition of drinking beer and mimosas and playing drunken Mario Kart.
Whine: our bathroom has no exhaust fan so it's a constant battle against mold. Ugh.
Win: My birthday is right before Christmas and we were home with my parents so I went shopping with my mom and then out for dinner and drinks with the entire family to a yummy tapas restaurant.
Wine: Give me all the champagne/prosecco! DH made a delicious "mimosa" for me last week that was champagne mixed with a little pomegranate juice and raspberries.
Whine: We rent, and our entire townhouse is painted (as the landlord said) "Pottery Barn Brown." Every. Single. Wall. It's basically tan/dark sand with dark brown trim and I'm fine with it in one room, but the entire house? No. We've decided to suck it up and live with it because we don't know how much longer we're staying, but it's still so dark and depressing.
Win: Tell me about your best day during the break so far (holiday related or not). Christmas day was nice. We got up and made pancakes and opened gifts, later I made a fancy dinner and had lots of wine. It was a good day
Wine: In the spirit of the new year, what is your favourite bubbly drink? I love bellini's!
Whine: Is there something about your house/apartment that annoys you, needs replacing, or could just plain use some improvement? Our house is a temporary rental that apparently served as a frat house at some point so pretty much everything is broken. We didn't get orders until 3 days before H had to check in so we didn't have time to come see the place before signing the lease, and now they won't fix anything. FU military and shitty Texas renters laws! Thankfully we will only be here a few more months.
Win: Christmas Day. DS was so excited, my ILs came over and I made a really nice meal for everyone. We enjoyed a walk on the beach too.
Wine: Prosecco. YUM.
Whine: Most of it because the previous owners didn't take good care of it. Currently the ceiling in the playroom. We thought it looked a little suspicious in a few spots and sure enough, yesterday after our first bout of winter weather, it started leaking through to the floors DH had just redone. Grrr...
Win: Tell me about your best day during the break so far (holiday related or not). Yesterday. We were snowed in so DH and I had to call into work. It was nice to spend the day together.
Wine: In the spirit of the new year, what is your favourite bubbly drink? I like pink moscato.
Whine: Is there something about your house/apartment that annoys you, needs replacing, or could just plain use some improvement? We just bought our home in April and we have a lot we want to do to it. We are slowly working on things. We would really like to finish our basement, but that is the last project on the list.
Win: I got a few days of visits in with BFF before I had to head up to the ILs for Christmas, and they were great. In particular though, she surprised me with FLOOR SEATS that she'd won through work to a Knicks game. My goal in life (and I'm not even exaggerating that much) is to sit on the floor at a Lakers game, so this was like a preview of that and it was amazing.
Wine: I don't really like champagne, so if I have to drink a sparkling wine straight, I go for whichever one I can find that is sweetest. Generally I'd prefer a mimosa though... either with OJ or Cranberry Juice depending on my mood!
Whine: We're still renting, and will be for the foreseeable future because we couldn't afford to buy where we are. I think if I could change something it would be the tub in the bathroom... I don't really like it. But I can't really fix that. In the things I can fix category, I'd go with the garage. Our laundry is in there so we can't fit the car, and it's just a disorganized mess. I need to work on that.

Wine: I am into pink sparkling drinks these days.
Whine: editing my whine because reading is hard. We live in an older home (1950's) all pretty much original. The shower pan in our second bathroom is leaking and we definitely do not have money in our budget for a bathroom remodel. I cannot wait to get out of this house!

Win: Christmas was great! DH's parents spent the weekend with us. On Christmas Day we slept late and had a huge breakfast. Then in the afternoon, we went to see Star Wars and had sushi for dinner. We followed that up with our favorite Christmas movie, It's a Wonderful Life. It was all around a fantastic day!
Wine: I like mimosas, and I like @kirby1220's idea of using cranberry juice. I'm going to try that.
Whine: I'm currently in the middle of painting our kitchen cabinets white. All of the uppers are finished, but I need to work on the lowers. We've replaced the lighting and counters and added a tile backsplash, and we plan to tile the floor once I'm finished with the cabinets. I wish we could have replaced the cabinets, but it just wasn't in the budget.

Win: Today was probably the best. Sushi, costco run and chillsies with my BF and her 9 month old in the afternoon. A delicious dinner and a movie with DH.
Wine: I love mimosas but a gin & tonic is probably my favourite bubbly drink.
Whine: We rent so there's not a lot we can change but my complaints are pretty minor. The bathroom sink tap leaks if it isn't closed really tightly and DH and I often forget. It drives me crazy to walk into the bathroom and see all the wasted water going down the drain. I also wish our balcony door latched better.

Whine: Most of it because the previous owners didn't take good care of it. Currently the ceiling in the playroom. We thought it looked a little suspicious in a few spots and sure enough, yesterday after our first bout of winter weather, it started leaking through to the floors DH had just redone. Grrr...

TTC#2 April 2019I got a few days of visits in with BFF before I had to head up to the ILs for Christmas, and they were great. In particular though, she surprised me with FLOOR SEATS that she'd won through work to a Knicks game. My goal in life (and I'm not even exaggerating that much) is to sit on the floor at a Lakers game, so this was like a preview of that and it was amazing.
Wine:
I don't really like champagne, so if I have to drink a sparkling wine straight, I go for whichever one I can find that is sweetest. Generally I'd prefer a mimosa though... either with OJ or Cranberry Juice depending on my mood!
Whine:
We're still renting, and will be for the foreseeable future because we couldn't afford to buy where we are. I think if I could change something it would be the tub in the bathroom... I don't really like it. But I can't really fix that. In the things I can fix category, I'd go with the garage. Our laundry is in there so we can't fit the car, and it's just a disorganized mess. I need to work on that.

Wine: I love a cold, cold bubbly beer.
Whine: Most of it, and we're just renting and moving soon!

Win: Tell me about your best day during the break so far (holiday related or not).
Definitely the first day we went to Disney World. DH and I felt like kids again.
Wine: In the spirit of the new year, what is your favourite bubbly drink?
My favorite drink is this "slush punch" my mom makes. (There's no alcohol so idk if it counts). But it's so good and we demand it for every holiday.
Whine: Is there something about your house/apartment that annoys you, needs replacing, or could just plain use some improvement?
We just signed a lease today to rent a house (hooray!). I am with @sLass42 I would love more counter space!
