Heavy Foods Help Nausea?

I know there are a lot of Nausea discussions. But I was wondering. So, I started my BAD 24/7 nausea within the last few days. I find that heavier foods help me SO much more than crackers, pretzels, cheese...etc. Like, I will feel really bad until I can get a grilled cheese sandwich in my stomach or sausage biscuit. It might be a little hard as I start to eat something heavy and I have to breath through it. But once I eat it, I feel so much better. The only hard part is EARLY in the mornings, but I suffer for hours until I can finally choke something heavy down. (I am also SO SO SO weak and dizzy in the mornings) Anyone else like that? Any other food ideas besides the little snacks that easy to make?

Re: Heavy Foods Help Nausea?

  • I think it differs so much from person to person. Or, for me, day to day. Some days saltines and mandarin oranges, and sorbet (light foods) are all I can handle. But then there are days like today where grilled cheese, heavy cream bases soups, and a big helping of bacon are what settles my stomach.

  • I had bad nausea the first couple days of week 6 that seemed to finally break when I started the unisom + b6 combo and had a chick-fil-a sandwich for lunch one day.  All was pretty well for a good week and a half until I hit 8 weeks, and the 24/7 nausea kicked in, and nothing that worked before worked any more.  If you've been eating light and healthy like I had been pre-chick-fil-a sandwich, try something heavy and a little greasy and maybe you'll get lucky and it'll be exactly what you need.  Certainly worth a try!!
  • Smoothies with yogurt and almond milk have also been consistently good.  For about a week, a smoothie first thing in the morning was exactly what I needed, but Monday that was a disaster, so I've done half a bagel, about 30 min later, a smoothie, and then an hour later, the other half the bagel.  Protein and easy to eat from the smoothie combined with bread to soak up the all night empty stomach + hormones seems to be a needed combo.
  • I'm with you. Heavy food always makes me feel better for some reason. French fries, mac n cheese, and pizza always sound good. I think it's because i get hungry so frequently when I'm pregnant. I try to alternate between yougurt, apples, and granola bars and the junk.
  • Cheese pizza and bagels with cream cheese are working for me!
  • I am exactly the same way. The only things that sound good right now are carbs and cheese. I had a grilled cheese and was absolutely in heaven. I can stomach chicken but not any red meat.

I'm a little worried about first trimester weight gain as I gain weight incredibly easy. But it's between this white food diet or eating two bites of a salad before I start gagging, so I'll take it. I snack on Skinny Pop during the day and that seems to help.

  • Thanks for all the ideas and input! I'm worried about fast weight gain seeing as I heavy foods are all that work. And I DO get hungery every couple hours or so. Fruits have been sounding good to me too. Chick fil a sounds so good right now!! Haha
