My baby is two weeks old. He is having trouble passing his stools. He seems in so much pain but cant seem to pass his poo. Any ideas how i can settle him and help him pass poo?
We have to do this with our daughter and have since 2 weeks. Vaseline on qtip and insert slowly, causes the push reflex and he should go instantly. We have to keep helping our DD go so I don't recommend doing this a lot. If you can wait he should pass it on his own. I know it sucks when they are in pain but they need to figure out how to poo.
Talk to the pediatrician or family doctor. If he's on formula it may be as simple as changing brand/type. It may help to do some things like you'd go through to help with gas pains. There's a colic hold that sometimes helps where you lay them on their belly along your forearm. Also pumping or bicycling his legs or there are videos online for massages you can do with their belly.
A pediatrician might suggest glycerine suppositories but check with your babies doctor before trying anything like that.
