  I have never heard of a backwards uterus. I have heard of a tilted uterus....but backwards? Nope. If it's in fact tilted, it's not really a big deal....it just means further back than normal.

  Yes! I had an unscheduled ultrasound last week because at at 12/3 the midwife couldn't find a strong heartbeat. Turns out my uterus is retroverted, which means it tilts backwards towards the spine instead of forwards towards the belly button. The ob said it was not a big deal and that by 13/14 weeks it would right itself. He said it wouldn't complicate birth, but that it would be harder to hear the baby on a doppler for a while because it's behind other organs. He also said that after I had the baby my uterus would go right back to where it was, not straighten out.

  I have a "tipped" uterus which means it's tilted towards my spine but it should correct itself as baby grows. No big issue.

  I also have the tilted uterus. The ultrasound tech really had to hurt me with the probe to see the baby because of it. Other than that it is no big deal.

  I have one. My dr called it a retroverted uterus. I think it's something like 1 in 5 women have one, but it usually doesn't get picked up until pregnancy. I found out because I got an er ultrasound with student Dr's and the ultrasound technician told them how to spot it. He didn't even talk to me about it. Other technician's have mentioned it but again no big deal.
  
  The only issues I have noticed are I need transvaginal ultrasounds until I'm further along then usual because they can't get a good picture of bean. I think it also made me getting a d&c after my lose harder because my dr got a bit pissy that no one told him I had one before he did my surgery so he had to change his plans.

  I read on the interwebz that it can cause more bladder leakage. Makes sense why I pee inadvertently quite frequently.

  Our doctor was describing a retroflexed uterus, where the top of your uterus can actual poke through your cervix. Apparently it can make sex really uncomfortable and mess with implantation, etc.

  Do any STM with a tilted uterus remember when you were able to reliably get a heartbeat on a doppler? I go in for another appointment with our midwife next week and I'm hopeful that she'll be able to find it at 15 weeks and change.

  My doctor has been able to find the heartbeat with a Doppler (and I have a retroverted uterus). It just takes her a while
