Hi, my name is Alisha. Me and DH have been trying to conceive for about a year and half. I started out with my regular OBGYN. They did an ultrasound and said I have PCOS, then my husband went and got tested and his motility was 36%. So immediately the OB started me on clomid and metformin. My periods were still hit and miss and after the fourth month of clomid with no success, my OB referred me to an RE. I also was having cyst rupture every month that i was on the clomid as well. So i went to first RE appointment which went great(i feel as if a weight has been lifted off my shoulders). He then explained that he doesn't think i have PCOS, that i may have a PCOS looking ovaaries. He stated that I am not overweight or have any of the other symptoms of the disease. He also said that he that my irregular periods were just unexplained infertility. The RE also gave me some hope with my DH saying his motility level was not terrible. Long story short I will be starting IUI with the trigger shot next month. We will be trying this for about two months before trying Gonal-f. I feel great now that i have finally seen an RE. Has anyone had a similar situation. It is always good to talk to someone who can relate or give any info about IUI. Please be easy on the lingo you use with typing a reply because i haven't quite got the vocab down yet for this website:)
Thank in advance!!!!!!!
Re: What do you guys think? *NEW HERE*
I mean fsh injections like gonal f and iui is the next step they would take with PCOS anyway solo I guess it really doesn't matter. I just don't know why they would try to put you on the unexplained infertility category when they have identified polycystic ovaries.
Granted PCOS is not actual cysts on your ovaries, just partially developed follicles. Does your RE maybe think you have actual cysts? Because recurrent ovarian cysts would be totally different.
Sorry I rambled. Always just curious about PCOS
Good luck with the iui. Hopefully the fsh injections don't cause cysts for you like the clomid did. I did my first iui with injectibles at the beginning of November but got a cyst. I have been on be for two months trying to get it to go down as cycles likely will not be effective if you have a large cyst.
How long have you been trying the IUI? Also me and the DH is going to naturally try instead of the RE injecting me.
