Baby food & LO fav spoon

Hi July Moms! Working on getting my daughter to eat baby food and she is not so into it. I know they don't need the nutrients, but would like to get her to learn to swallow and use the spoon. Any tips or spoons your LO has liked after not liking others? Thanks in advance ...

Re: Baby food & LO fav spoon

  • Are you starting with a cereal? I combine some oatmeal cereal with my breastmilk. I make it on the looser side. I'm not so sure the spoon has much to do with him liking it, I think he's just a hungry fella. If you are working on swallowing, stick to something with a looser consistency for now.

  • I use the nook spoons they sell them in Harris Teeter.

I tried cereal first (been working on this for a while) and made it very thin with formula, she hated that even more (probably because it was so bland).  My daughter sleeps like a champ at night, so she is not waking bc she is hungry so for me it is really just learning, but maybe she just is not ready... I will keep trying!  Thanks for the advice.

Thanks @n3na94 we have nuk (maybe the same thing) and munchkin, so far not into either lol
  • We started with rice cereal mixed with breast milk and he was not impressed. We tried squash and was a little better. We're onto sweet potato and he loves it. All my food is homemade. We're trying peas next. I've tried a couple spoons and the nuby color changing ones work best for us. The only problem is that they get stained from the food we use.
  • She may just not be quite ready yet.
  • My son isn't into it yet either. We tried rice cereal mixed with formula and sweet potato. He still has a tongue thrust reflex and pushed the food out of his mouth. I'm going to give it a couple of weeks and try it again.
  • My son HATED oatmeal and rice cereal. We went Right to bananas and veggies (organic). Good luck mamma and keep trying!
