RCS question :)

I searched the board but didn't see anything so I apologize if this has been asked before.

My son was born via c-section (semi-emergency, definitely last minute!) and I am going to have an RCS with this little one. For those who have had one, I know they usually do it early, but how early? I am tentatively due on August 9th or 10th (my dating US is on Dec 30th) so I wasn't sure exactly what I was looking at.

Thank you :)

Re: RCS question :)

  • I'm sure it varies case by case, but my friends who have had RCS's it's usually within a week before your due date. Sounds like a good question for your doc. :)

  • I had an unplanned RCS so I cant really share on the when I agree though with Tisunge That its probably something very individual with doctors.  And as always its recommended that you go as close to your due date as possible for the health and development of the baby.  Was the emergency cs something that they suspect would happen again?  If you dont mind answering

  • @Xath wrote a really good description on RCS in this thread-- check it out.

Also, as she's had RCS, I think she would be a great resource for you, OP

My sister-in-law schedules hers one week before her due date.

    Edit: words are hard.
  • Mine was 1 week before my due date.

My son got stuck and every push dropped his HR so the chances of the 2nd one getting stuck would be similar I would imagine. I have a short torso so there's not much room in there lol

My 1st appt is tomorrow with my previous OB so I'll definitely ask her this! Thank you!

  • I think most OB's will not scheduled a RCS or Induction prior to 39 weeks unless there is a medical reason.  Prior to 39 weeks you aren't considered full term.
