Upset tummy, kind of worried

New mom here who's super excited about being pregnant. I'm trying my hardest to suck to healthy food items and to stay away from those foods that are not ok. I know sushi is one to stay away from but I had a roll today and now my stomach is more upset than ever, is this something I need to be concerned about or am I slightly overreacting

Re: Upset tummy, kind of worried

  • Overreacting.  Lots of ladies continue to eat sushi as long as the place is reputable.  Good be a trigger for you, and sushi just makes you sick.

  • It's never made me sick before but I'm glad to hear I'm overreacting
  • I agree with PP. Your stomach could be upset due to the sushi, some other food or drink, gas, or due to your nerves.

If you have food poisoning of some sort, it's not concerning that it will hurt your baby. What is concerning is if it leads to dehydration for you. So drink up.
  • Overreacting....what do you think Japanese eat? They don't stop eating fish or sushi. You can eat it, I would moderate the high mercury fish and only eat from reputable establishments.

  • If you're worried about sushi while being pregnant only eat the cooked rolls to help ease your mind. I highly doubt one roll would hurt you unless it was rotten ;)

  • I'm thinking it was probably the general Thao chicken I had...one of my favorites but baby doesn't enjoy the spice that goes with it
  • It's the raw sushi you have to stay away from. I ate cooked sushi throughout my last pregnancy with no issues. There's just some things I can't cut out ;)

  • Sounds like a normal aversion. You'll find a lot of those in the coming weeks. I can't even eat chocolate without puking. If your morning sickness is really nad, eat what you can keep down. Don't force yourself to eat something that will make you sick because it's healthy. You want to avoid raw fish and then fish that tend to be high in mercury, but I'm sure one sushi roll is fine.
  • Thanks ladies...definitely put my mind at ease
