Tuesday Randoms!

Good morning ladies! Woke up to freezing rain, so thankful I'm home with DS today so we can just hang in. I have a few errands I should be doing but I feel like slippery sidewalks and morning sickness are good excuses not to do them today :) How's everyone else doing today?

Re: Tuesday Randoms!

  • I feel terrible on and off. If I can't get a handle on this morning sickness there is no way I'll be able to hide the pregnancy until 12 weeks.

Also, I need a new/bigger mattress. woke up in the middle of the night to getting pushed off the bed by DH.

  • Tossed and turned all night and apparently I was warm because I kicked the blanket off me.

The past few days I haven't been able to tell if my congestion and fatigue are normal pregnancy symptoms or if I have a cold. I guess I'll ask my doctor at my appointment tomorrow.

On the plus side, I love our new king sized foam mattress. I can toss and turn and the movement doesn't transfer to DH!
  • We are starting a few projects this week for updating our house. Whoever thought paneling was a good idea, it is not. But I know if we don't start now we definitely won't do it once new baby comes.
  • I'm going into work this morning to do some lesson planning once break is over (boring). I'm really hoping I get it done today and have no work the rest of the break... But I'm feeling little motivation to move lol! Keeping the reward of being done in sight!
  • We had a very windy night that knocked down tons of branches and a couple trees. Knocked out the power out so DH and I each grabbed a down comforter and slept on the couch in the basement last night. Then woke up to diarrhea and puke from either the cat or dogs, so that had to be cleaned. Busy start to my day for sure!

Already have three furbabies- Blake, Sydney, and Chester

  • @ZedPM3 I've been trying to convince DH that we need a king size bed for the past 6 months. We stayed at a hotel with one recently, and it was such a better way to sleep! He's tosses and turns so much at night, but I didn't even notice it in the bigger bed. It's amazing what a difference there is between a queen and king size.

  • Today starts my weekend! (I'm off Tueadays and Wednesday's instead of the traditional weekend.) It'll be nice to not have to work while nauseous the next couple days. But it is getting hard to hide the pregnancy at work because of MS. My desk is littered with saltines and ginger ale.
  • @Bookhousegirl I think my DH is loving it! Normally I try to snuggle up to him in my sleep so he gets a small sliver of the bed, but now with the king sized bed I can sprawl out more and not crowd him. I think I even stay on my pillow all night. It's definitely worth it!
  • I barfed about 20 minutes after taking my thyroid meds. Emailed the nurse to find out if I should take more. Still waiting. 6 weeks and ms has officially set in I guess.

The good news is, I think I can say DS (2.5y) is finally potty trained!!!

    Just keep swimming.
  • First day back to work after vacation and I already want to smash my face in. That and I've eaten like 5 Chewy bars at my desk, so I've done nothing but pig out.
  • We lost power around 7:00pm last night. Besides the fact that it is freezing outside, we have 2 older children (6 & 11) that are horrible at entertaining themselves without lights and stuff lol. Our 8 month old started projectile puking at about 9:30pm and did that until 1:30am. She is still not holding much down and is seeing the doctor today. Power is back on but I am now at work and so ready for a nap!
  • I've been running around trying to get things done and I'm drained ready for a nap oh and I'm hungry like always and have to work tonight
  • I woke up suuuuuper bitchy this morning. I was sick most of the night so I didn't get much sleep, then my husband had accidentally set the alarm for 5:30 instead of 6:30, AND it was sleeting outside.

He asked if Little has ears yet, because he wants to have a talk with Little to set up some ground rules. "No making Mommy throw up, and stahp with the mood swings."  I told him Little may have ears, but they won't start listening for a few years yet ;)

  • I am SO drained. Jumped out of bed and ran errands with my little guy so that hubs could sleep in (he worked until 4am) and now I have an interview in an hour and a half and have no motivation to go. I came home, little man went outside to play with his friends, and I am cuddling our new kitten on the couch. Don't wanna get up
  • @Allisun85 I've been having the WORST mood swings too!  I didn't have them with the previous 2 pregnancies-- at least not this early.  I had a weepy hormonal stage around weeks 18-20 with pregnancy #1, but nothing like the completely bitchy morning moods with this one.  My poor husband.

  • Busy today so far. Had to go into town before this snow storm started. 30 cm two days ago, another 15 cm today. Who has children between 8-10, and how and when will you be sharing your news?

My DS dad is also remarried and just had a baby and it had hit my DS pretty hard. I'm scared that he will 've distanced from me when I tell him.
    Any advise would be awesome!
  • Add me to team emotional. I just cried on the phone to DH because I feel so cranky and nauseous. Looney.
  • Feeling blah Im usually a night owl up till 1am on the regular and I cant keep my eyes open past 9 pm.  Im also battling constant nausea so I eat carbs to stop it and then I just feel grouchy bc im eating crap food!  Also the family conversations about how everyone "knew" i was pregnant were just suuuuppperrrr annoying.. my MIL gets in comments like this a lot and often.. this is my 3rd you can imagine how my patience with her comments about my size is wearing thin.

  • Thinking of all of you dealing with bad winter weather today - where I am, it has just been cold rain but after a Christmas of 65 degrees, it's a tough pill to swallow...speaking of tough pills to swallow, ugh prenatals, why are you giant.

Also, why can't people spell and use correct grammar on this site? Mostly the "drive by" posters but good grief...I know it's the internet and it shouldn't matter, but it bugs me so very much. #rantover

  • @BBAug2016 we have an 11 year old, a 6 year old, and an 8 month old. We had my daughter (11) "read" the home pregnancy test. It took her a minute to figure it out but when she did she was super excited. She then told her brother (6) who was jumping up and down whoo hooing. We keep them on board with making decisions and things for the new baby so they don't feel left out. We let them each tell a member of the family that we had not yet told so they felt like they were sharing the big news. Good luck!
  • Down with a nasty cold (seriously, what is up with the weather these days?!). I want to get a full uninterrupted sleep but I'm waking up due to cough and the constant need to pee every hour or two during the night. Hubs had to make a CVS run at 4 AM this morning to get me some cough drops- I started to worry when he didn't come back right away. Turns out he was checking all the ingredients in the cough drop section to pick the best/natural one (so sweet).

Besides vapo rub, cough drops, and hot tea with honey and lemon, any other suggestions?

First time mom here (9 wks along) and it took me a while to let go and cough because I feared I'd hurt the baby every time I coughed/sneezed. I know I can take tylenol but I don't have a fever so I'd rather not! How long will this last without medication?!

Thanks!! Hope you ladies are feeling well!
  • @AliKay20 I would worry more about peeing myself coughing or sneezing! I got a list of safe meds from my OB and there are actually cold medicines that you can take that are not just tylenol. Lots of water and rest on top of it all. Sending good vibes that it will pass quickly for you!
  • @AliKay20 I had the same thing! Nasty cough, raspy voice, stuffy nose, everything. I was miserable for about a week and never took meds. I hope you feel better soon ... I know how NOT fun that is!!!
  • Super preoccupied and distracted at work. It doesn't help that the office is super slow since so many people are still on vacation. I hope my ability to focus on work levels out once the pregnancy news sinks in a bit more... otherwise I'll end up fired!
  • I just bought my MIL Balenciaga Skin perfume and it is amazing. That should be random enough.
  • Oh, and I have already begun parking in the expectant mother parking. I am only 6w1d.
  • @AliKay20 My doctor Ok-ed benedryl! I also use saline nose spray when I have a cold (just salt water) and that helps thin the mucus so you can breathe.

  • Didn't feel like cooking dinner tonight, because it would've required a trip to the grocery store. Hardee's for the win! I'm regretting it already though.
  • DH seriously has a weak stomach especially first thing in the morning. MS kicked in again this morning so he stayed in the other room to avoid getting sick himself and focused getting the kids ready for me. I'm curious if this baby will be a boy. My gums(when brushing teeth) and nose are mildly bleeding in the morning which is what I dealt with during my first 2 pregnancies. On the normal I never have that problem.

My MIL is making me lose my mind. She apparently thinks it is ok for my niece (who I'm pretty sure has bronchitis but no one seems to be concerned about it but me), crawl and cough all over my two year old. Bathing together was her idea for the night and it was like I was the worst person in the world when I said I didn't want that.

I know it is cold season and everyone is sick but I would prefer to avoid some of the unnecessary germ sharing if possible. Am I being irrational? I don't understand why she doesn't want to keep one of her granddaughters healthy.

ETA... Sorry if this is not technically random but I'm losing it over here...

  • Has anyone ever used a Doppler for heart rate around 8 weeks? My friend has one and she is bringing it over tomorrow night at which point I will be somewhere around 7w6d and 8w1d. I hope it works but I'm not getting my hopes up!
  • @LWC1112 you are not the one being irrational. She's being short sighted and inconsiderate. Shouldn't she know better?! Sorry you have to go through that! I'd tell her that bath isn't happening but I understand if it's hard to push back to your MIL. Ugh!
  • @saam0815 I tried with Womb Music Heartbeat Monitor and mistakenly thought my heartbeat was the baby's! When we saw our peanut on the ultrasound and heard the heartbeat, it was so much faster than what I've been hearing (lol). Some have better luck with it so you may get to hear it. Good luck and don't stress if you can't hear it yet!
  • Thanks @AliKay20. Makes me feel better. DD is our only right now so I can be a little bit of a Mama Bear with her, but this situation just seemed so cut and dry. They shouldn't be playing and they shouldn't be bathing together.

  • Thanks @AliKay20 I hope I can hear it but know it might be too soon!!
