Barely pregnant?

Anyone else getting this? When we told our families at Christmas, of course one of the first questions is "how far along are you?" When I said, 8 weeks, almost everyone's reaction was "oh, you're barely pregnant".

My logically side knows they mean I'm not very far along, I get it, but my hormonal side says I'm up for 2 hours every night puking my head off, doesn't feel like "barely pregnant" to me. Jerks.

Ok. Rant over.

    Yep I've definitely heard that :) my doctor even said that to me at my first appointment.

    I had an English teacher in high school who, anytime you said "like" in class, would say "you can't be 'like pregnant.'" In retrospect, that was an odd thing to say to a bunch of teenage girls but the point is valid -- you are either pregnant or you aren't. No 'barely' about it!

    That's mean! Nobody has said that to me yet... but i have had a couple people surprised I told them so early. I'm not good at hiding things, so if I were to lose the baby, they would end up finding out. Why not just be excited?! And remind them, even "barely pregnant", your baby has a heartbeat. And there is no such thing as sorta pregnant!

    Yea DH said it to me yesterday when he asked why I was grumpy from being tired.  Ummm, pregnant is pregnant and this trimester is the worst!

    Yes! When I told my dad, he said, "So you're what, a month along? Does that even count?" Ugh. That's really the only reason I wish I had waited longer to tell my immediate family.

    Wow that's not nice! We told our families and my 2 best friends at 5 weeks and everyone was so excited! I was the one stressing the fact we are not that far along yet!

    @Bethyboo26 your doctor said that?! wow. DH is a physician, I can't imagine him ever saying that to a pregnant or other patient. "Oh wow, you only have a touch of cancer." "You barely have heart disease!" ....that is just not medically sound.

    I was worried about telling the families this Xmas since I was only 5w but none of them said anything like that! They just asked if I've gotten sick or not yet but other than that they were all happy for me. There's definitely no barely pregnant, you are or you aren't. Your body will let you know you aren't barely pregnant for sure!
