Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Anyone look back and laugh and themselves before baby

I had such perfectionist ideas of the kind of mother I would be it's actually hysterical now. I was going to EBF and not do formula lol what a nice idea that lasted 6 weeks! I wasn't going to stick my baby in front of the TV. Oh please 4 months later mommy needs coffee and baby needs to be hypnotized by this magic cat named Looi. My baby will sleep in his own room...don't know how that bedroom got so far away from mine once we got home from the hospital. I'm going to workout every day and get my body back before I go back to work. That was the best delusion ever. Just wondering if anyone has similar feelings about themselves.

Re: Anyone look back and laugh and themselves before baby

  • I look back and laugh at how neurotic I was with my first kid! I had so many "rules" for him and how I was going to parent and most of it was such a big fat waste of time. Live and learn and do things differently with the second kid! lol

  • Laugh about what a joke I was in terms of being ready.
  • Yes. I laugh about my idea of when baby first came home and maternity leave. Between my mom and sister I had people staying with us for two weeks immediately after baby was born. I read so many people in my bmb talking about how important bonding was and they didn't want family staying with them after the baby came home. Sometimes my mom drives me crazy being in the same space for so long. I told my sister I thought maybe they should wait so we could have "family bonding time". My sister said I would want them their, but obviously they would repeat my wishes. Well I decided to have them here right after she was born. My sister had her two kids with her(who are extremely well behaved) and let me just tell you it was a God send! I laugh at my idea of family bonding! It was survival mode! My baby was admitted to pediatrics not even 24 hours after we got home. I had trouble with breastfeeding and extreme anxiety and the baby blues. I was so nervous about them leaving. I have an amazing supportive DH who is a fabulous dad, but having my mom and sister here too in those first days really helped. I was not prepared for this horrible anxiety and baby blues I had. Thankfully it only lasted a few weeks. Our little family of 3 had plenty of bonding time after that! Also I had plans of hitting the gym regularly and getting back in shape. That didn't happen. I took LO walking almost daily but didn't make it to the gym.
  • This is my 3rd, and I still laugh about how I figured I was totally prepared, because I should be a pro right? My kids are 18, 8 & 4 months. I'm oblivious. There's problem is all of my kids are totally different, u can't be a pro at something totally new!
  • Yeah I'm the neat freak married to a slob. Even if he tries to help it's like he will straighten up then toss shorts and socks on the floor when he is done and lay on the couch. In the beginning I wore LO in the ktan carrier and did everything but bathrooms. Now luckily he plays on his activity mat and lets me do housework nearby.
  • the other day I told my DH... remember before the baby when we thought we were busy? lol
  • I remember sleeping 7 hours straight and waking up tired lmao wonder when that's going to happen again
  • Pre baby, I remember saying "I'm so tired".  In actuality, I had no idea what tired was...
