Hi Ladies (Loss Mentioned)

Hi all, finally decided it was time to make my introduction after lurking for the past several months.

I’ve been terrified to officially type the words, but here it is! I’m 26, DH is 27 and our DS is turning three this month. We have been TTC since September of 2013, and have had two successes, which ended in heartache, BFP #2 3/2014 MC at 4w6d and BFP #3 4/1/2015 MC at 9w5d. After my second MC I decided it was time to seek out answers. I was diagnosed with PCOS (DH is fine) and have gone through the usual tests. After my HSG and another month worth of ultrasounds, my GYN informed me that he was “very underwhelmed” (mid transvaginal! - WTF right?!) with what he saw; my uterus, egg development and test results. I switched to a different doctor in the practice and started clomid. After three cycles leaving us empty handed, we decided to take a break for the holidays, and to catch up on the ever growing pile of bills. I am trying to focus on my health and we are still trying the “old fashioned way” while I try to “patiently” wait to begin again in February. Let's be serious though, I should probably buy stock in ovulation/pregnancy tests...

I want to sincerely thank all of you ladies. While lurking, you have all helped me, emotionally and informatively, more than I can express. I’m glad that I have finally woman’ed up and made my intro, if I have to go through this, I am so thankful to be part of a group of woman as supportive as all of you! Sending well wishes to you all!

Re: Hi Ladies (Loss Mentioned)

  • i am so sorry for your losses. did the doc give any answer for the later loss? i remember some stat like after seeing HB on u/s your risk for m/c is like 2.5% or something... and then cursing the world when i was that stat. i have serious egg quality issues, which makes sense for my losses, but if your labs look good i'm perplexed by your last m/c. i know hindsight is 50/50, but man i wish i had my loss(es) tested, for closure, and for moving forward.

anyhow, rambling. welcome to the board.

  • Thanks for the welcome, and I am sorry to hear you went through that too...No one talks about it enough, I had no idea what to expect and to say that it is an unimaginably painful ordeal is the worst understatement.... My heart goes out to you.

He didn't really give me an answer other than "You have PCOS and these things happen...". To say he was a dick is an understatement. I had just moved to a new practice and he was my first experience with a male doctor, they wouldn't let me switch right away, but I have since found comfort in a partner of his.

It was a complete, natural MC and it took forever, but seemed to happen so quickly. I wish I had thought about testing, I was just not in the mindset at that time to look to anything past what was happening at that moment.

  • Hello and welcome to the board!  I am so sorry for your losses and that you find yourself on this board.  You have come to the right place to find other women who understand your situation and will happily support you.  I had a MC right before I started IVF and it is very sad and leaves you with a lot of questions.  I think it is great that you switched doctors... you definitely need to find someone that is on your team.  All the best to you!
