Moms who chart...

If you were charting while TTC, did you quit once you got your BFP? Why or why not?

I did, but curious what others do. I had been sort of new to charting (only did it for 1 1/2 cycles).

Re: Moms who chart...

  • I did quit only because I didn't see a reason to keep doing it. I did, however, take my temp about three times since my BFP to see if it was still above the cover line. Doing this is not recommended though.

  • Yes.  You should quit charting/temping.  Charting is to pinpoint ovulations/AF.  You won't be having either of those.  You will drive yourself crazy.
  • Yes I quit after I had two positive HPTs a few days apart.

FF itself tells you to stop tracking fertility symptoms after you confirm pregnancy. Why would someone continue to chart? The purpose of charting is to see when/if you ovulate, and clearly that's not happening when you're KTFU.

  • Yes, after 16 DPO and my second BFP I stopped. I was very happy to stop the torture of waking up at 5:30am on the weekends!

There's really no point in continuing to chart because of what the other ladies have said.
  • I stopped after getting a BFP two days in a row. I checked my temp a few times after that and while it was above the cover line, it was low. It just caused me to panic. So I wouldn't recommend doing that.
  • Thanks, ladies. That all makes sense. Glad to hear I was on the right track.

  • I was happy to give up charting! My temp was actually down a little (but still above the cover line) the day of my BFP and that drove me crazy. I'd just torture myself over analyzing if I kept at it.

  • I stopped after my BFP and I love not setting my 6:00 alarm every morning! I think it would just add to my anxiety anyway.

  • I stopped once I had a positive test. No need for all that work anymore and no need to have anxiety about what the number means day to day.

  • Yep def. stopped after my BFP! Agree with the anxiety of watching the temp go up and down and worrying about a loss.
  • I didn't chart but I followed a post on the bump where she convinced herself she was miscarrying because of her temperatures. She made herself sick worrying why they were acting the way they were and it turns out it was completely normal for pregnancy. I would call it quits for now.

Little boy due July 31st 2016

  • I stopped temping the day I got my BFP, I wondered if I was supposed to do it but was so happy to not wake up early anymore! Glad to know I was right in stopping!

  • I checked every other day for a few days after my BFP just to confirm temps were still high, and I might randomly check until I pass the milestone where I had my CP last time, but other than that, I'm sooo glad to not have to keep doing it.
  • I need to stop, but having had a loss I like to see the temp still high, but know that if it wasn't I would freak out potentially for no reason. Going to stop thanks to this thread!
  • I stopped a couple days after I got my BFP. It was driving me crazy, I didn't want to analyze every dip. Plus, I didn't have to wake up early anymore.
