Trying to Get Pregnant

Wandfo vs. Clearblue easy digital ovulation tests

When I first started ovulation kits, I began with clearblue easy digital. A couple of months ago I decided to try Wandfos because they're so much cheaper. With clearblue, each month I ended up getting a smiley/positive that was confirmed with temping. The first month using Wandfos I never got a positive but got a definite ovulation temp spike. The second month, I was using Wandfos at least twice per day and I got to a point where the second line was dark enough to be clearly present, but not even half as dark as the control line, and got a confirming temp spike. This month I'm doing both: clearblue and Wandfo in the morning, and Wandfo again in the afternoon. Clearblue gave a smiley today and Wandfo was barely visible both times. Of course we can HIO and watch temps to confirm, but I'm curious if anyone else has tried a head-to-head and what you saw? Did Clearblue and Wandfo give you the same results at the same time, did one come earlier than the other, or did one come and the other not at all?

Re: Wandfo vs. Clearblue easy digital ovulation tests

  • I stopped using Wondfo ovulation tests because I've never gotten a positive with them. They do work for others, but for some reason they never work for me! I have used Clear Blue Adv. digitals and gotten positives then confirmed with dollar store tests and temping. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I ran out of pregnancy tests and had a ton of Wondfo ovulation tests and heard you would get positives with those once you're far enough along in pregnancy and I did get positives with them at that point, but never when ovulating. My advice would be to go with the brand that works for you!

  • I am in the same boat. I've been taking CB advanced and wandfo opks. The CB tests also test for the estrogen spike prior to the LH surge. That is why you can get days of positive blinking smiley faces before a true positive. I'm going on 5 days of blinking smilies and wandfos are still super negative. I'm very very frustrated.

  • The clearblue advanced never worked well for me. I consistently got the blinking smiley the 2nd day I tested, and it could last 10 days or more of blinking before it went solid, so I could never rely on the blinking smiley
  • I've never tried the clearblue OPKs but that's mostly because I ordered Wondfos back when I first started using OPKs to see if it was something I really wanted to do. I figured there was no use spending a lot if I hated doing OPKs and decided not to do them. The first 2 months using Wondfos I got about 24 hours of clear positives. I did have a month where I couldn't get a definitive positive and got a bunch of "maybe positive" or "nearly positives" but did get a temp spike to confirm ovulation. This month I started getting clear positives early in the morning on CD18 and the OPKs are still absolutely, clearly positive on the night of CD19. So for about 36 hours now.

I agree with @lilliemom that you should use whatever works for you. I've read that some OPKs, like HPTs, are more sensitive than others. Some women's LH surges have lower LH levels than others. It's possible (though I don't know this to be true) that the clearblue OPKs are more sensitive and that your peak LH levels are a bit lower than "normal."

  • I'm so relieved to hear that others have trouble with the Wondfos. I haven't gotten a clear positive on one yet :/
  • Some people love them. I have found them to be hit of miss for me. Typically I start using the Wondfos earlier in my cycle and once the line starts getting darker, I switch to clear blue digis. I think I prefer the old (non-advanced CB- they still sell them on Amazon.) occasionally I used the Wondfos throughout fertile window as they are much cheaper so I don't feel bad testing more than once per day.

  • I am not a fan of either. I have never gotten a positive OPK using Wondfo. However the Clearblue irritates me cuz I frequently get invalid test results which is just ridiculous when they cost that much. If I were more of a baller, I would just buy tons of Clearblue and forget about Wondfo altogether.

  • So I used the CB with my last one and I am using Wondfo this time. I feel like the price plays a big role..BUT I will say the flashing smiley or the smiley helps to really tell you are at your peak or not. The Wondfo took me two cycles to really be able to tell when I was ovulating. I am now in the swing of things and its working well for me. I like being able to keep journal with the sticks. I can actually track better with seeing it. I know I could use an app but that actually takes more time than taping the stick into a book and tracking. I wish you luck with any that you decide to go with! :)

  • I've tried Clear Blue Digital, Clear Blue Advanced Digital, and Wondfos. Wondfos are my least favorite, and CBAD are my favorite because I like the heads up they give. This month though, I had a better idea of what my cycle would be, and I did get positives from all three that lined up. (I used all three brands this month and last to see which I liked the most).

  • I tried CBAD and Wondfos when trying to predict ovulation and both would give me positives but it was at different times. I finally figured out I was having multiple surges so Wondfos became my brand of choice because they were cheaper. I didn't always get a super dark line but with just a second line I counted as a positive for me and it was confirmed with a temp shift.

  • Just an update on my previous post, after 7 blinking smilies on the CB digital advanced, I finally got a positive on both the digital and the wandfo! I tested when I first woke up and it was still blinking. After lots of EWCM a few hours later, I just felt like it was happening and both tests confirmed.  Let this be a reminder that your LH surge can happen at any time.  Don't just test once a day or you might miss it.

I never could turn a wandfo BUT that was before my thyroid Was treated and I also never showed clear temp shifts...so I probably really was anovalatory. After one month clear temp shifts and back to ttc after medications for thyroid, I started clear blue advanced digital simply bc I got em from the grocery store on impulse. I'm on day two of blinking smilies and I like the blinking smiley bc it helps me calm down.. Like "okay... It's going to happen, I'm not anovalatory anymore". I am ordering wonders so that I can test multiple times a day in case I miss the surge like @DCHokiemom says, but I'll stick with clear blue easy as well while i'm still on the fritz all the time about having been anOvulatory for so long. Maybe when that im confident that I ovulate now I'll switch to wondfos bc of price. But my being able to not freak out that it will be another anovalatory cycle is priceless for now ;)
