August 2016 Moms

There are a lot of FIRST APPOINTMENTS (YAY!) this week! How did yours go?

I remember when initial intros were going on, a lot of people had the same first u/s date as me (12/23) and I've seen several others comment that their first ultrasound and/or appointment is sometime this week or next, so I thought it'd be fun to start a thread for people to tell us how their first appointment went!

I have mine in about an hour, so I'll come back and update later. :)

  • I had an US on Monday, although I was only 5 weeks 1 day, my doctor went ahead and checked since I was in for my annual.  I saw the little bloop on the screen, not too exciting, but looked right on schedule.  I have another US scheduled for next Wed because my doc wanted to make sure all was well before I go on my cruise!

  • I just went to my first u/s and it went perfectly! I had estimated my O date based on positive OPKs and some temping (though I was not religious about tracking my temps by any means) and *thought* I was 7w1d, so the doc wanted to date my pregnancy and of course make sure everything looks good. Sure enough, the baby measured right at 7w1d, and had a heartbeat of 126 bpm. She said my due date based on LMP (actually when my m/c started) would be 8/6. Based on my O date and measurements, it'd be 8/9, but she's putting it down at 8/6 in the chart since that's close enough.
Next appointment is in next month, right at 12 weeks. YAY

  • Congrats @1faceinacrowd , you must feel so relieved!

I had my appt with my OB this morning, but the ultrasound tech wasn't in so she's sending me to the hospital to get the ultrasound done. I'm so glad I'm still getting it but now I have to wait until 2:00 so just counting down the minutes! I'll update after I go.

  • @Bookhousegirl  Thank you! Best of luck! Waiting is the worst... Can't wait to hear how it went!

I was so nervous! I didn't think I would see much on the ultrasound but when the tech pointed out that little flashing sparkle on the screen and told me it was the heartbeat I totally lost it. Since I'm only exactly 6 weeks we couldn't hear the heartbeat yet so I'm going back next week. I can't wait!!!
  • All went great at my ultrasound! Measuring 6w2d and saw a heartbeat of 121! I feel so relieved to know all is good so far

  • I had my first appt on the 23rd as well... us looked great, almost baby looking at exactly 8 weeks! I should have been 7w 5d, but I thought I was at least a few days farther, and I was by 2 days. Heartbeat was 158, and I go back on the 6th for a heartbeat check (I'll be 10 weeks) bc my nurse is amazing and doesn't mind calming my fears... so it will probably involve another quick us :) next real appt is on January 21, which also happens to be our 4th wedding anniversary!
  • I had my first appt. on Dec. 22nd. All was well. Was measuring 7w6d at the time (8w4d now). Heartbeat was 168. My OB/Gyn did the ultrasound - not sure if that the norm or just a first u/s kinda thing. They've scheduled me for a OB Teaching session for FTMs in two weeks and then I'll make my second regular appt. then.
  • @BritMC18 ... that is the norm for early u/s. You'll see an u/s tech at the 20 week scan, or if your doc thinks theres a need to see anything better. My nurse practitioner has done all 3 of my early scans, and will be doing the next one at 10w (I hope it will be an us anyway!) And it sounds like we're due date buddies :)
