Leaving baby with...

How old was your LO the first time you left her with someone other then your DH or SO? What was your reason? (Reason isn't important just curious! But I'd really like to know how old).

Me and DH desperately need some us time, I'm fine with leaving her with a grandparent for a few hours but DH isn't. She is 11 weeks and takes a bottle just fine if needed.

Re: Leaving baby with...

  • I left her at 3 weeks with my cousin (were very close) because we had the marine corp ball to go to. It was overnight. Ive also left her with my mom for a few hours. She kept her so me and DH could go meet up with some friends during one of her ridiculous cranky weeks.
I think its good for them to get used to being with other people. She does awesome when im not home but if shes being held by someone else and knows im home she loses her shit until i take her

  • I left with parents at 6 weeks to have dinner with DH.
YOU NEED THIS! LO will be fine and will probably be more tough on you or DH then on on the baby at this point. If you trust the person whom you are leaving her with then do it.
You will feel better afterwards and have the refreshed energy and happiness to deal with LO and fussy periods.
  • I left my DS at 6 weeks with my mom. My SO got me tix to a show for my birthday. It was also a great time to get her into practice for it because two days later I went back to work and she watches him.
  • DD1 was 3 weeks old. My parents took her overnight so we could get a full nights sleep. This LO was about 2 weeks old when my mom watched her for a few hours so we could DD1 out to lunch for her second birthday...no overnights for this LO. I guess second time parents don't need to catch up on sleep haha
  • Left him with my parents at 5 weeks while we went to DH's company Christmas party. Was amazing to get a full nights sleep but was excited to see him the next day :)
  • We left him with my parents at 6 weeks to go to a nice dinner. It was nice for DH and I to have time to reconnect without interruption! I've also left him with my mom to get my hair done! I highly recommend it!!
  • I left my LO with my MIL at 7 weeks to go to the dentist, lol! It was about 2.5 hours though. It was only her 2nd time taking a bottle, and she didn't eat very much, but she did take it fairly well. :) I've left her a few other times to go visit my FIL in the hospital for a couple hours and she did fine then too.
  • I left my son with my parents at 4 weeks because I had a funeral to go to. It was nice to get out without the baby for a couple of hours even with the awful circumstances.
  • We left him for 2 hours at 3 weeks so DH and I could go out to eat for his birthday. At 4 weeks, my MIL stayed at our house overnight and kept LO with her in the downstairs guest bedroom so we could sleep. She had him for 12 hours. I breastfeed but pump a lot so he started taking bottles at 2 weeks.
  • At 3 weeks i left him with my mom so i could go to an appointment on my own. We left him for 24hrs at 6 weeks to go to a wedding out of town.
  • It was about 5 weeks for me and 8 weeks for more than 2 hours. He's stayed with my mom, MIL or my older sister. We've been asked by several people what we are doing for New Years but would have to find a sitter outside of the family for that and I'm unsure I'm ready. A good friend has 3 daughters ages 18, 16 and 13 who all love kids and have all been around babies so I'm sure LO would be ok it's just the thought of leaving him with someone new for the first time.
  • 10 weeks and one of my best friends, who has kids and works at a preschool watched him, so we could see star wars the day after Christmas. I cried and my husband was about 5 minutes away from giving away our tickets and taking me home, but it was good to have a date. And when we got home my LO was asleep and happy.
