Groin pain

I've been having some off and on pain in my groin area. It feels like I have been riding a bike for hours-it is pain in my buttcheeks/groin area/upper inside thighs. It doesn't hurt externally, only an ache that feels like I'm bruised, but I'm not. I had it a couple of weeks ago after a long walk. It seems to be worse after walking around a lot or sitting a lot. When I am sitting or laying down it doesn't hurt, however when I go to stand up and start walking again, I ache and waddle a little as I let my body get used to me moving again. But once I move around for awhile, in good again.

Any one else had any thing similar? It isn't round ligament pain (ive had that off and on) and it is different from my sciatic pain (which I've also been having!). If you've had anything similar happen, any tips to make it feel less achy?

Re: Groin pain

  • I haven't had this exact kind of pain (except for when I actually went for a bike ride at 11 weeks and found out it HURTS when you're pregnant), but for achiness usually a bath or heating pad helps me. If that doesn't help and it keeps up maybe call your OB/MW for peace of mind.
    Hope it gets better!

  • I tried the heating pad last night and it worked wonders. I don't think it is any thing to be super concerned about, and every thing I looked up said it was probably due to the relaxin hormone and I might just be more sensitive to it. Thanks for your response!!
  • I had some of this too, I felt like I was almost crippled trying to get up sometimes from my hips and butt hurting.. also I have aches down there too. I asked my obgyn about all the pains and aches and she said it was completely normal and will have many more aches and pains..mine happens mostly getting up out of bed or laying on the couch.. also my stomach sometimes feels like i have done sit ups the day before... pregnancy is definitely hard on your body, I can say it's not the amazing experience I always thought it would be! I think im dying 90 percent of the time! Hope it gets better!
  • This happens to me too! After I take the dog on a walk I feel like I had just worked out at the gym! My butt and upper thighs ache... I believe it is because my weight is shifting (my back has also been achey) to get used to carrying LO. I'm glad you posted though! That's why I love these boards... More often then not someone is feeling a same symptom you have!
  • Thank God I'm not going crazy. Same symptoms. I started to stretch and that has helped a little.
  • Stretching is a great idea. I'm going to start working that in as well. I agree that it is weight shifting and bones preparing for the next 6 months and all of the new hormones. Not so fun when I told my sister in law last night (who just had her second kid) and her comment of support was "oh, it will get much worse". Earlier it hurt so bad in my lower back that when I tried to lay on a flat surface it felt like I had broken my tailbone. So achy!!
  • Heating pad for my back is my BFF lately... But I find my knees are achey too! I said the same thing to myself... It's only just begun!
  • Yeah I've had this kind of pressure before too... I've used ice when laying down for 20 minutes which helps.

My OB said that its from all the extra blood flow and is totally normal.

    I feel your pain!
