Possible to go crazy from fetal movement?

It doesn't seem like there are *too* many D15 members kicking  around still waiting for baby (SO jealous but happy for all of you on the Birth Announcement and Breastfeeding threads!), but I find myself sitting here idly wondering if it's possible to actually go mad from fetal movement. I'm 39+1 and baby moves constantly. I mean, I don't think she ever sleeps. I'm tired and cranky and tonight I couldn't get comfortable and actually burst into tears because she just would.not.stop.rolling.around. Every move she makes is accompanied by the ever-lovely lightning crotch pain and I just want to scream. Think anyone has ever just lost their damn mind?

This has been Random Thoughts From a Pregnant Woman on the Edge of Sanity.  :D (If anyone has a special snowflake rant they'd like to contribute here, feel free.)

Otherwise, hope everyone has a safe and healthy holiday week and look forward to many more birth announcements and happy snaps of the new babies in the week to come.  <3

Re: Possible to go crazy from fetal movement?

  • Yes, mama, I feel you! It's not all day every day, and it's not always accompanied by lightning crotch for me, but I've definitely had moments where I feel like I might go crazy if he doesn't chill out! Of course when he's not moving for a while I always start to worry juuuust a bit until he's back at the uterus karate. Sigh. We're almost done! (38+5 over here.)
  • Loading the player...
  • Uterus karate!! :D That's so perfect- I love it. Clearly we're gestating little ninjas in there...
  • Also 38+5! Being due the last day of the year is driving me nuts! Seeing everyone already having their LO and me suffering from the rib jabs and vagina pains I'm so ready to give birth!! I also understand I feel like my princess never sleeps and laying down has gotten more painful than sitting up
  • I hit a point a few times with DD when she was moving so much and I was in so much pain from her movements, utterly exhausted and I'd be in tears waking hubby up and begging him to try to get her to sleep. Never worked but the dear man tried. I definitely get it. I was so relieved once she was out I was weeping and said "I can take a deep breath!" It just felt like such an utter relief physically, even more to have her safely out and healthy.

I know it's rough but you will make it.
  • Sometimes the baby hiccups make me feel nauseous for some reason :|
  • @Mizuiro007 that first deep breath!! I can't wait. So glad to hear it's as good as I'm imagining. I feel like I've been underwater for months.

@laurabwalker I can't believe I almost forgot about the hiccups. Those will definitely drive a person nuts! LO gets them once a day for 20-30 mins, just about. I hate when I have the hiccups so I wind up feeling a littlue bad for her- but I also get a little queasy.
  • I'm 39+3 and yes he's driving me insane. He's getting too big so his movements are getting painful. Today, I had to pee, every time I stood up! It's absolutely insane.
  • Yes the peeing when you stand, even if you just peed!
  • I am 39+5 and still waiting too. The whole time I have been pregnant I have been joking that I am incubating a tiny Rhonda Rousey in there. Baby girl is so strong and so active. She really hurts sometimes, and now that she has dropped she is instigating serious lightening crotch. She also really likes to show off, so every appointment with the midwife, or any time she feels or hears Daddy on the outside she is going nuts. I keep wondering if she will be like this on the outside, and if I will miss feeling her on the inside.
  • 39+6...he always decides to have a dance party when I'm trying to sleep!! His dad likes to wake him up when we get into bed and "play" with him. Then he passes out which leaves me with the craziest moves and I just want to go to bed.
  • Oh I miss this, I miss feeling her jabs and pushing against me. I know at the end you're DONE but try to enjoy it while you can ladies! I didn't realize how much I'd miss having her in my belly, or realize how right people are when they told me to enjoy it while she's still in there. I love her being here, but that's truly such an amazing experience. You girls are SO close to meeting your little loves, you got this!
  • Totally understand and can relate!  DD is so active that when I am talking to people they will actually say to me, after seeing a huge movement from her, "Was that your baby?!"  Me:  Yup.  "That was intense movement."  And all I can think is yes it is, especially if you can see it from 5 feet away...

I'm not actually due till Jan 9th, but induction date has been set for Jan 2, and now I'm just waiting for baby.  Two more weeks and she is driving me nuts.  I was so restless last night that I don't think I went to sleep until 3AM.  And I didn't do anything yesterday.  I do mean nothing, had no energy or willpower to get up off the couch.  Which isn't the best as my parents are arriving to day for Christmas and my house is a total mess.  I'm not even sure when the last time the kitchen was swept :'(  At each midwife appointment they ask if there has been any decreased movement and I just laugh.  I have no idea what she is doing in there, but it seems like three times a day it's party time and I can literally sit and watch my belly go crazy as she rocks and rolls in there.
  • @kleshelle I know you're right and I'm going to miss this which is what I try to tell myself *most* of the time but man...sometimes it is really hard. Like this morning, for example, in line at Whole Foods where I involuntarily "hit the deck" because LO decided it was a great time to roundhouse kick me in the ribs. I just popped back up like: "I'm good!" and everyone looked at me like a crazy lady. Fun times.  :p

@ACarter0914 DH used to do this but he is now under threat of bodily harm after a particularly rough night a couple weeks ago (that he slept through peacefully). :|

I do love to think about DD coming out this feisty, spirited little girl, though! I wonder if there is a correlation between the way they  move in there and their activity levels on the outside.
  • I laughed so hard when I read this because I feel I could have written it. I'm 40+3 and my little dude has been nonstop this entire pregnancy which on one hand, it's the most amazing feeling in the world and I'm super grateful, but on the other sometimes I get a little tired of getting beat up. I feel like he's been trying to kick his way out through a 3" area on my left side for about 3 months now. It's like, settle down child-- if you want to get out so badly, please do so through the correct exit!
  • I was crossing the road today and the little man decides to give me the worst lightening crotch! I was almost taken to my knees because I wasn't expecting it and it was sore. I managed to keep cool and cross but I must've looked well weird
  • @Alyssaerin996 I'm not sure about activity level but it definitely seems to make for some strong babies. DS was very active in the womb and has hit physical milestones early and DD seems like she's already following the same. The attached picture is her doing tummy time at 6 days old.

    Omg look at her!!!! Amazing!

Baby is currently trying to birth via my ribcage. Stahhhhp!
  • @Mizuiro007 6 days! Woah, that's amazing. (Also- what beautiful hair!!)

I can't wait to see what DD will be like. :)
