Merry Christmas Eve!

Anyone starting new traditions this year or want to share a current one? My DH has always worked Christmas Eve but he's off this year and we have no clue what to do!

  • Merry Christmas Eve! Tonight we get dressed up and go to my aunt's. We always have a good time. Until then we will hang out and do nothing.
  • @lalala2004 I hope your grandma is okay! @KDennis202 how fun! Jealous of Disney! I am hoping I can stay awake long enough to go to midnight mass at my grandma's church. She's been gone 15 years but we were always close. For some reason being pregnant has made me miss her even more. I see a nap in my future! Cleaning right now. Blah blah
  • Merry Christmas Eve! I've been cleaning all morning and later we go to H's family get together. I think my house is the cleanest it has been in months :D

  • My new Christmas tradition I believe will be trying so very hard not to kill my DH.  It is in the 70s here.  I am hot natured before even being pregnant so I am hot all the time and had the AC on.  He came home from work and turned on the freaking heat.  I'm sitting here in a tshirt and shorts and flip flops and SWEATING and he is got pants, two shirts and a jacket on and turned the heat on and threw a fit when I complained.

  • We have spent the last few Christmas holidays in Colorado. Last year was DS first Christmas so we picked out a special book for him. We just went into town and did the same thing yesterday so we are all ready! The tradition is for it to be either holiday/winter themed or a classic to add to our kiddo library, and we read it Christmas Eve. I know it's a pretty common one but it gives me all of the feels!

  • This is the first year in a few years that DH hasn't been able to have today off. He's out of vacation time so had to work but it is only an 8 instead of a 9 so he'll be home early. :)

I always used to watch It's a Wonderful Life and then go to bed. It had to be the last thing I did before bed. Last year and this year we are going to a friend's house after the service at church. She has a big party. Lots of food, lots of kids running all over the place. It's really fun. Hoping we leave before 11pm this year though. lol

It's 85 here. Bleh. I went to my appointment today in flip flops and a tshirt. So ridiculous. Thankfully DH agrees with me and we have the AC on blast.

No traditions here though. Going to MIL's tonight where we'll be meeting my parents as well and having dinner and some present opening. Then tomorrow we're opening gifts and then driving down to DH's uncles house for the day.
  • Chrismas Eve at my house is going to the early candlelight service followed by a trip to our favorite Indian restaurant!
  • Merry Christmas Eve!! We always get Chinese carry out for dinner and then go to church (now the family service at 6 vs the 10:30 candlelight service). But most of all, I am beside myself excited about finding out what this little peanut is tomorrow. Eeeeek!!!

  • Merry Christmas Eve!! My H and I got to my parent's house yesterday! We are about to go pick up take out and bring it to my brothers for dinner(he lives down the road), then we'll come home and bake cookies and finish wrapping. I'll probably fall asleep watching The Family Stone.

Tomorrow morning we do stockings and presents with my mom and dad and then go to my brothers to see what Santa brought my nephews and exchange presents with them. We spend the day there and have an amazing prime rib dinner.

Nothing too fancy or special but it's always a great time.

Merry Christmas Eve!!! We do a big Italian celebration at my grandparents' house on Christmas Eve. Before we left our house today, we each opened one present: pjs for everyone and a few Christmas books for DS. We'll keep that tradition going. After DS fell asleep tonight, DH and I played Santa: stuffed stockings, laid out presents, turned on the tree and train lights, left a note for DS, 1/2 ate the Santa cookies, left a torn piece of red fabric on the fireplace grate, and left a bit of soot right outside of the fireplace. DH likes a clumsy, messy Santa. :) We took pictures of the set-up before the beautiful chaos of Christmas morning comes.
  • Hosting at my house for the first time ever! Mom's mom passed away a couple months ago so she asked me to host, because she was feeling too bummed out. I was super stressed and working 24/7 up until last night, but had so much fun getting presents ready, shopping for a big pancake breakfast, and decorating today! Mom's still playing Santa with stockings though - I made it clear that since baby isn't here yet, I'm still the baby of the family, and expect the full Christmas treatment! I'm excited to start more traditions and play Santa for real next year though.

Side note: also super proud of myself for not crying tonight (it was close though) when I came home from dinner to find that my puppy had found one of his little stuffed dog toy stocking stuffers I got him, and already started playing with it. I was so upset he ruined the surprise for himself and then remembered he's a dog, and held it together!
  • Merry Christmas Eve! Just rounded out a great evening with family by coming home and watching Christmas movies w/my husband and decorating a gingerbread house!!! Hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow!!!!
