Mirena Question

I got the mirena about a month ago. I have been bleeding for weeks. Off and on spotting. It seems to be different everyday. Has anyone else experienced this? The doctor said it was normal but will it ever stop? No other issues besides that.

Re: Mirena Question

  • Yeah, I've been spotting off and on since I got it a little over a month ago. My doctor also said its normal but it's very annoying. I'm hoping this stops soon or I might get it removed.
  • Yes it is super annoying. It makes me feel so yucky!
  • I got mine about a month ago as well and have been spotting for about 2 weeks now. I'm really hoping it stops because I'm super annoyed by it.
  • I forgot to add I bled 33 days after I got my first period with it. It can move itself and mine moved out of place and that's why I had all the bleeding but if you're concerned just go get it checked out and they can tell you if it moved
  • I've never had that.  I'm on my third mirena.  Will it eventually stop?  I don't even get a period on my mirena.  I think when I got the deprivera that Zi bled the entire time though.  Never got it again.

Got mine a few weeks ago and have been spotting since a week after insertion.
  • It took me about 3 months for my period to regulate. As well as my hormones.
  • I've been bleeding on and off for 2 months now, though it has lightened. My dr told me it was perfectly normal and normally she can just prescribe a bc pill to stop it, but not while I'm BFing. Unfortunately she said it could last 3-6 months. Good news is once it's done, I shouldn't get a period.
  • I've been bleeding/spotting for the past month after having it inserted. This is my third Mirena and it's the first time I've experienced this. I'm assuming it's just because my hormones are still trying to regulate. It's not heavy bleeding at all. The first week was like a normal period but ever since its been an annoying spotting, only enough for a panty liner. My doctor said it's normal and things should get better soon. I don't want to have it removed because I love them and I've had such a good experience with the other two!
  • I had spotting on and off plus abdominal cramping for 8 months before having it removed.
  • I had it inserted Nov. 17th. Been spotting on and off some days heavier than others. The doc said the adjustment period is 3 months so I'm gonna stick with it. Yeah spotting sucks but honestly I'm kind of used to it lol. No sex sure does suck though haha
  • I got mine put in December 16th and I'm spotting and crampy...I'm giving it four months because I know I adjust to things slowly.
