Thoughts or similar experiences?

I have been experiencing some dark spotting over the past few days. It is brown in color, and light enough that a liner is fine. I am 13 weeks, and this is my first pregnancy. It started over the weekend after a full day of shopping with my husband, I was on my feet all day and walking around. By the time we were about to go home I was sore, and exhausted. Wondering if that could have anything to do with it. What do you think?

Re: Thoughts or similar experiences?

  • I haven't had that. I would call the dr, better to be safe than sorry! hope it's nothing.

  • I've had spotting a few times this pregnancy and once when I was pregnant with DS. Call your doctor, as they'll likely want to see you as a precaution. My midwife ordered a detailed ultrasound the first time (at 13 weeks) just to be safe. All was well. Then when it happened again a week ago she checked the heartbeat and all was fine. It's likely nothing, but get checked out anyway, if for no other reason than for your peace of mind
  • It's most likely fine and from doing too much (I have some benign lump on the outside of my cervix that bleeds if I do too much). But you should call your dr any time you have any type of vaginal bleeding.

  • I had a lot of spotting earlier in my pregnancy but it was down to low progesterone. It is probably fine, but I would definitely call my doctor if I was you.

  • Dark brown is old blood- I'm sure you're fine. Bright red blood is not good.
  • I had one day of bright red, I freaked out but it stopped quick and everything I read said if it wasn't continuous or had no pain you shouldn't panic....my next Dr appointment is Jan 15th so we decided if it's only that once for a couple mins we would wait, if it comes back we are going to a medi-center.

I'm at 14 weeks today so because it wasn't enough even for a liner being required only noticed when I went to the bathroom and saw it on the TP I was told not to worry....if it comes back at all i am definatly going to a clinic tho no matter what.

Sorry for the too much info
  • This happened to me although it did eventually turn into red blood. I wasn't going to do anything because it wasn't a ton and I wasn't cramping, plus I was thinking there wasn't much that could be done either way, but I ended up calling my midwives eventually and they had me come in. It turned out that I had a subchorionic hematoma causing the bleed, so I was really glad I called after all. Definitely gave me some peace of mind.
