Questions for the group?
Any updates or changes (like meds or protocol)?
Any upcoming appointments?

GTKY:  What are you initially thinking about for a theme for the baby's room?  Colors, prints, animals, etc?

Why are you high risk (ie medications/disorders/etc)?  I have Lupus that can cause damage to my organs and I have a clotting disorder called antiphospholipid syndrome AKA anti-cardiolipid antibodies
Questions for the group?  Nothing yet
Any updates or changes (like meds or protocol)?  Nothing yet
Any upcoming appointments?  Another beta next week and hopefully my first ultrasound

GTKY:  What are you initially thinking about for a theme for the baby's room?  Colors, prints, animals, etc?  Thinking very non-baby.  Don't like the typically nursery stuff.  Probably for for simple patterns and colors.

Why are you high risk (ie medications/disorders/etc)?

I'm hypothyroid, I have a history of pre-term labor with related neonatal fatality, and I've had 3 cesareans with 1 uterine rupture (fortunately I was already on the table for he cesarean when that happened).

    Questions for the group?

Anyone have experiences navigating the NHS? This is my 4th pregnancy but my first in the UK and everything is different here.

Any updates or changes (like meds or protocol)?

My thyroid antibody levels were already off so they've already upped my meds.

    Any upcoming appointments?

    4, starting on the 14th.

GTKY: What are you initially thinking about for a theme for the baby's room? Colors, prints, animals, etc?

Baby will sleep with us and then inherit DS2's room. We'll put DS1 and DS2 together once my little guy is out of the crib.

Why are you high risk (ie medications/disorders/etc)? Antiphospholipid syndrome which is a blood clotting disorder. Recently diagnosed even though my last MC was 10/14. I am also heterozygous for both MTHFR genes. Now I am taking aspirin, lovenox injections (which burn like lava), as well as extra folate and b vitamins for the MTHFR.
Questions for the group? For those on lovenox, have you been successful with the protocol before? I'm scared to death that it's not going to work.
Any updates or changes (like meds or protocol)? Seeing my hematologist and OB Monday. So nervous.
    Any upcoming appointments?^^^

GTKY: What are you initially thinking about for a theme for the baby's room? Colors, prints, animals, etc? I haven't even had a chance to think about it... I just want this sucker to stick
  • @ThisAgain - no advice on Lovenox, but are you on mega calcium supplements too? My doctor has added 3 calcium pills a day for the Lovenox side effects.
  • How far along? 5 weeks today
Why are you high risk (ie medications/disorders/etc)?  Factor V Leiden Homozygous and on Lovenox (still no confirmation on if OB will treat me high risk but I think the nature of being on Lovenox classifies me as high risk in some respects)
Questions for the group? For those on lovenox, have you been successful with the protocol before? I'm scared to death that it's not going to work.  @ThisAgain This is my first go around as well.  Yes, it feels like lava.  Only real tip I have is insert the needle quickly but then push the contents in slowly until the plunger is starting to hit the safety mechanism.  But the burning still comes after, nature of the beast.
Any updates or changes (like meds or protocol)?  Lovenox injections daily.  @bsckgb7 I'm
Any upcoming appointments?  12/11/15 Phone "interview" with a nurse at the OB office, they said to set aside 60-75mins!  Not sure what I am going to talk about for that long...
GTKY:  What are you initially thinking about for a theme for the baby's room?  Colors, prints, animals, etc?  Depends boy or girl so I def want to find out.  Thinking maybe elephants for a girl and airplanes for a boy but I'll probably change my mind a 1000 times once I get on a certain  ;)

  • How far along? 5 weeks today
Why are you high risk (ie medications/disorders/etc)? Incompetent cervix. With DS, I went into premature labor three times before I delivered him a month early. I was on strict bed rest and meds for a good 6-7 weeks prior.
Questions for the group? Has anyone had a cerclage? Looks like that's in my near future.
Any updates or changes (like meds or protocol)? Cramping and spotting last night=blood work today and Friday. Fingers crossed everything looks good.
Any upcoming appointments? Friday afternoon for a repeat blood draw.

GTKY: What are you initially thinking about for a theme for the baby's room? Colors, prints, animals, etc?

We'll keep the same theme we have for DS. It's a forest theme with little woodland critters everywhere. The walls are gray and green.
  • @bsckgb7 my Dr. did not tell me about calcium supplements! I'm going to do a little research on that. You would think I was nuts if you saw all the supplements I currently have to take. currently I ice the spot down, alcohol swab, insert the needle and then the lava slowly. Then ice, then witch hazel, then oral arnica. I put arnica gel on the spots that have a little bruising where the injection site has healed. It's works mostly.

Why are you high risk (ie medications/disorders/etc)? Type 1 diabetes and had HELLP syndrome with my first
Questions for the group? Nothing so far
Any updates or changes (like meds or protocol)? Nothing really yet...just trying to keep my blood sugar numbers under control. I have good control but wow can hormones do a number lol
Any upcoming appointments? First appointment is Dec. 21st

GTKY: What are you initially thinking about for a theme for the baby's room? Colors, prints, animals, etc? I really haven't thought too much but I LOVE grey nurseries. So maybe grey and either pink or blue
  • ThisAgain - They are having me add 500mg x 3 a day (calcium is better absorbed in small doses).  Lovenox can cause osteoporosis.  So definitely check into that.

Hello all. Im not sure if I will be sticking around yet. I have had a m/c 6/10 then a son 12/11 and a m/c 11/15. I have been  having every symptom you can think of so I took a test. Boom Faint BFP. Just so happened I had a follow up OB appointment and I told him I had a faint positive. He said it could either be left over hormones from m/c of a true pregnancy. I did have a full normal period on 11/6 so I think this is really happening.  I had my first round of bloodwork this morning and have to go back Saturday to see if it doubled. Im nervous but in my gut I think I truly am.

Why are you high risk (ie medications/disorders/etc)? Bloch Sulzberger Syndrome- a skin disease that is chromosome based. Basically, if I have a boy that gets the mutated gene of the skin disease. He will more then likely not live to term and if he does only until 5 years old. I had 2 miscarriages and 1 healthy baby boy in between. My last m/c was 11/2/15. Both my miscarriages had the mutated gene and were boys.

    Questions for the group?
A line is a line, right? Even if it is really faint?

Any updates or changes (like meds or protocol)?
Nothing yet. I currently take metformin (PCOS), synthroid (hypothyroid) calcium and prenatal.
    Any upcoming appointments?
Saturday is my 2nd round of blood work to see if my levels doubled. Fingers crossed!!
    OB appt 12/28.

  • @mrskimm09 my line was extremely faint when I first took mine. So faint that I almost didn't notice it. I had to squint to see if....a couple days later I took another one and it was a little bit darker and then the day of my missed period I took another one and it was more noticeable...still not super dark but I didn't have to squint to see it! Lol
  • Sorry ladies I don't think I introduced myself.

I'm high risk due to preterm labor./low amniotic fluid.

I have a son that is almost two . He has two conditions which I was told would be incompatible with life (from about 13 weeks pregnant on)
He was born and is a very healthy little guy!

I suffered a natural MC March of this past year and gave up trying for a while.

    I'm 3 weeks 6 days

    No questions at this time.

They don't want to see me until Jan 4th and then I will go every 2 weeks to monitor fluid levels .

Why are you high risk (ie medications/disorders/etc)? unicornuate uterus, fibroids, very low progesterone
Questions for the group? Anyone else with a UU?
Any updates or changes (like meds or protocol)? My OB can't see me until I'm 14 weeks for my first appt and I'm very panicked because I have never been pregnant before and this high-risk thing was sorta thrown at me. I am supposed to be seen starting at 8 weeks and seen more often. I do take progesterone and I don't know how my 15mm uterine fibroid will play a role.
Any upcoming appointments? First OB appt Feb 3

  • misspuppychow - if you are high risk and your OB doesn't agree, then either get a high-risk OB (called MFM) or get a new OB who will take you seriously.
  • @misspuppychow I would think with your UU they need to make sure baby implanted properly on your uterine wall. Is it the scheduling people who won't let you come in earlier or your OB? I would call back and explain your situation. If they won't change it, ask to speak with a doctor or nurse.
  • @Kristin712 and @bsckgb7... I have been talking with my OB's nurse. At least here, the MFM doctors only see patients initially based on referral. My OB has told me she'll work closely with them throughout the pregnancy. I'm guessing the reason they aren't overly concerned about seeing me sooner is because my RE is doing a viability check via ultrasound at 7 weeks. However, he won't take the time to show me stuff and print me out pictures. His goal is just to make sure baby is viable before releasing me to my OB. I did get the appointment moved up to 12 weeks, but she just has no openings for 1st OB appointments because they are a lot longer (1 hour). I did get them to let me have an ultrasound with just the tech (no seeing the doctor) at 8 weeks. So that is something! I just really want to see a heartbeat, know everything is OK, and have some tiny baby pictures to show my family over Christmas (as they live across the country and this will likely be the only time I'll see them until 8 months along).

Why are you high risk (ie medications/disorders/etc)? my thyriod likes to go high and low - sometimes hyper - sometimes hypo.
    Questions for the group? none

Any upcoming appointments? I go in for an u/s on thursday!

GTKY:  What are you initially thinking about for a theme for the baby's room?  Colors, prints, animals, etc?

Why are you high risk (ie medications/disorders/etc)? I have a couple heart conditions, a pacemaker and defibrillator, history of cardiac arrest, seizures, laryngeal breathing dystonia, a tracheostomy, history of blood clits, syncope...and a few other things. I'm also on a lot of meds
Questions for the group? Are you having inductions for a more controlled birthing environment?
Any updates or changes (like meds or protocol)? I'm bipolar and I had to go off my lithium which is a little scary
Any upcoming appointments? I had my first doctor's appointment last week and got my blood work confirmed. I have an ultrasound on Jan 5th
  • Hi I am a newly diagnosed T1D. I was diagnosed in June 2015 at my first prenatal appointment, they believe it was not in full swing until I became pregnant. We lost that baby at 9 weeks as the poor baby had to endure sugars over 25 mmol for the first 6 weeks of pregnancy until I was on insulin. Now I have my a1c down to 5.6 and am 8 weeks pregnant again. And extremely anxious about having another m/c. I have great control and am keeping numbers between 4-7 as much as possible but any time I am elevated above an 8.5 I have the feeling that I am going to kill my baby. I test every hour and my specialists are amazing and even let me ultrasound whenever I need to just to see that things are OK. But definitely have a hard time as the disease is still new to me. Any tips for managing, or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated!

Why are you high risk (ie medications/disorders/etc)? Lupus, POTS and Lyme Disease.

    Questions for the group? None

Any updates or changes (like meds or protocol)? Nothing yet

Any upcoming appointments? I don't go back for another ultrasound and appt until 1/5 and I'll be 8+ weeks.

GTKY: What are you initially thinking about for a theme for the baby's room? Colors, prints, animals, etc? Once we find out what the sex is then we will decide. I had so much fun decorating our DD room and I can't wait to do it again with #2! Although we will be moving in a few months so we won't actually start working on it until the spring :).
