  I'm glad things went well! It's such a relief when it's over. I had tissue tested for chromosome abnormalities that might give us a clue as to why the miscarriage happened. However, it was on my surgery form that I signed and I was also asked a couple times if I wanted that done. Definitely ask them when you have a chance. Hopefully, you'll find out something useful!!

  I had access to my chart after the fact. As far as I know it wasn't tested for abnormalities, but just examined. My chart said something about tissue "consistent with products of conception"

  I specifically asked if the fetus would be tested for chromosome abnormalities after my D&C and was told that they don't do that until you've had multiple miscarriages, which is very frustrating! At my follow up appt on Monday, the Dr told me that the results came back from pathology that they got "all the products of conception". I believe that they check this to make sure that there is no tissue left in the uterus that would cause you potentially have an infection, etc.  
  
  @silentP Was this your first MC? I would have paid money to have the fetus tested just for my own piece of mind if I knew that was an option. I've already told my new doctor that if this happens again, I want the testing done.

  With my first MC I asked for the tissue to be tested (demanded was really more accurate)- and it was sent to the lab even though they typically do not do any testing with a first mc.  Unfortunately, it was a mmc- and I spent 4 weeks carrying it around- so the tissue was not able to provide any answers to why I miscarried.  My last mc my doctor said that with this being my second pregnancy and second miscarriage they wanted to test everything.  Again it was a missed miscarriage, but I was 2 weeks further along and we caught the mc 2 weeks earlier this time.  
  
  I'm not sure what I'm hoping to find out from the testing.  If it was chromosomal with my first and I had known I might have been more relaxed with this pregnancy.  But I don't think anything will comfort me enough to have happy thoughts for any future pregnancies.  
  
  Good luck with your recovery- hopefully you are able to spend more than 5 minutes with your doctor before you decide to try again.

  Hi, I am glad that your procedure went well. I agree with pps, they send the tissue for karyotyope/genetic analysis. They did it for both my mcs. My insurance covered and my doctor recommended it. The first one did not work, since it was a mmc and the tissue had been inside me too long. The second revealed that I had a baby with turners syndrome. I hope that they give you some answers.
