I post this with the understanding that we don't all celebrate Christmas and apologize if this offends anyone, but I want to know....What's your favorite Christmas song?
I don't really have a favorite but the "I'll be home for the holidays" song makes me tear up. I have no clue when I'll be home for the holidays again(doesn't bug me much since I've got my own little family here!) but I start thinking of all the people who FINALLY do get to go home and it's just exciting.
It's my favorite because growing up we always went to the late Christmas Eve mass and we all get candles and they turn all the lights off except our candles and sing that song. It gives me goosebumps and is my favorite part every year!
Silent Night!

This!
My favorite church service of the year is the candlelight Christmas Eve service where we all get candles and just sing these types of songs. It's about an hour, or an hour and a half long, and I love it. It's my favorite
I haven't read it, but every time I hear it I here how he's definitely trying to guilt her into doing something she doesn't want to do! And won't stop! It's definitely manipulative of him. That said, I still enjoy the sound of the song.
Re: Baby it's Cold Outside - definitely a creepy song. I read an interesting article not too long ago with the theory that he wrote it as a satire, particularly pointing out that a woman's position in society at the time, especially regarding sexual relationships, was completely ridiculous. (The song was written in 1944.) I wish I had the link still. Apparently this guy wrote a play too satirizing something similar. I'm not sure I buy it, but it was an interesting article anyway. I'll see if I can find it.
Edit to add lyricist's name: Frank Loesser for anyone interested.
