PSA - Stay Hydrated!

Here's my little story of why we should all be hyper-vigilant about staying hydrated...don't fall into the trap that I did!

I knew I was slacking at the end of last week with my water intake, but I had convinced myself that I could make it up. I went to a midnight showing of the new Star Wars movie and let myself become sleep deprived too...dangerous combo.

Fast forward to Sunday morning, I woke up to the room spinning. Every time I moved, the room started rotating again and of course, it caused the worst nausea. I called the 24 hour nurse line and they told us to head to urgent care (advising that it didn't sound pregnancy related). They took my blood pressure (laying, sitting, standing) and determined I was dehydrated and started an IV with fluids (it took 2.5 liters until I  had to pee...that's apparently when they stop pumping you with fluids). At the end, after the IV, blood, and urine tests, they determined I had an inner ear virus that was caused by dehydration. 

I spent all day Sunday (after we got home...4 hours after we walked into the urgent care) and all day yesterday in the same nest on the couch drinking as much water as I could get. I finally felt well enough to come to work this morning (and sign in to tell you all this story), but am still not 100%.

Take your fluid intake seriously...it doesn't take long to fall behind when you're pregnant!
