Vision Spots

Hello, anyone else having weird vision symptoms? I had a blurry spot that started small, grew bigger, and then disappeared after 15-20min. No other symptoms except freaking out of course (!) We are going to call the OB. But from a few other boards, and dr husband it sounds like it is probably normal. Just wondering if other July bumpies are having this.......

Re: Vision Spots

  • I'm not personally but I have heard eyesight can change while pregnant maybe it's part of that? Hope all turns out well!

  • That sounds a lot like the optical migraines that I get every so often.
  • I know that my contact/glasses prescription changed with DD and has already fluxed this pregnancy as well.
Although, I do feel that what you described warrants a call to the OB (like you mentioned). I personally haven't experienced what you described.
  • Could be an aura migraine. I get these occasionally, but it happened more frequently during my 1st pregnancy.

  • I had on and off blurry vision with DD, nothing with this one yet. It's probably a good idea to call and just double check like you said. Hopefully it's just the normal stuff :)

DH works with eyes. His 2 cents:

Better safe than sorry. Get it checked out by your ophthalmologist (not optometrist.) If you don't have one, most have 24 hour answering services. If they don't need to see you right away, they'll let you know. It's probably nothing but better to err on the side of caution.

  • I agree that it sounds like an aura migraine. I have had that happen many times in the past, and it's not necessarily accompanied by a bad headache like you'd imagine with the word "migraine."
  • I've gotten those little shiny star looking things in my vision one time. I've also been feeling very dizzy & constantly out of breath. Normal? Haven't been to the doctor & not going until 2016 when my new insurance starts up.
  • Thanks for the input ladies... I did use to have migraines (they got much better when I got off birth control). So it might be that my vulnerability for that also makes me vulnerable for those vision symptoms, who knows. I'm definitely getting it checked out... Thankfully this hasn't come back since last night. And I took my blood pressure at a CVS just to see an hour after it happened, and it was totally normal. Of course I had read yesterday morning on my weekly update that as I'm entering week 12 my new symptoms might include "headaches and dizziness" and of course within 24 hours I saw spots and did feel a bit dizzy when it happened.

@victoria98 I do think dizziness is supposed to be a normal symptom, especially if you're near the 2nd trimester, but I'd still get it checked out... Maybe make an appointment for as early as you can in 2016? (thankfully it's getting pretty close now!)
  • Yea, I get vision problems and even numbness in my fingertips that signal a migraine is coming. Got this 4 times last week, awful. It's pregnancy related, also if uou have tension in your neck and shoulder muscles, that can make it worse. Talk to your doctor, it's good for them to know.
