XPost: Do HCG levels correlate with heartbeat heung detected on u/s?

We went to the ER for some spotting after intercourse. They determined I was barely 5 weeks along, so all that could be seen was a gestational sac and what they thought might be the yolk sac. My hcg was 3327, and the doctor mentioned something along the lines of not seeing much for those levels. We've never had an u/s this early, so I didn't expect to see much anyway, but his comment has me concerned. I didn't think hcg levels would correlate with it since every woman's levels can differ even at the same gestation.

I'm having my levels checked again today to ensure they're rising, as well.

I hope that all made sense*. I feel like I'm rambling at this point

That's about all you should be seeing at 5 weeks and those levels sound normal to me for 5 weeks. ER docs are kind of notorious for not being the greatest when it comes to pregnancy care and I would imagine the nature of their job has them skewed a little more toward worst case scenario. I hope you see rising numbers at your next draw!

My ob told me something similar with my dd. My hcg levels were extremely high, although I can't recall what they were. At the ultrasound we weren't able to see anything but a sac. I ended up having bloodwork and the Dr. still wasn't optimistic even though they doubled. I went back for an ultrasound a week later and we saw the heartbeat.

I had an US today and all we saw was the yolk sac.  I think as pregnant mamas we tend to over analyze every word and detail!

I did some googling before my first u/s and I think the generally consensus was over 6,000hcg to hear a heartbeat (usually around week 6) via vaginal ultrasound.  Your levels sound good for 5 weeks and your levels should be well over 6k by week 6.

At 4w5d, my HCG was 3,105. We saw the gestational sac and a very very early visual of the yolk sac. My fertility specialist said he was surprised we could see anything (and early ultrasounds are common practice with him). Knock on wood, everything for me has been progressing well. So, I really wouldn't worry, especially if you were just 5 weeks. The yolk sac can take until 5w4d to be visible and it sounds like your tech thought you had one. You're so early right now that the US can show quite a big difference in just one day.

So looking through this I'm kind of wondering... I had bloodwork done around 5 weeks and my HCG levels were over 14,000, and then jumped to a little over 15,000 in around 24 hours. We had a sono last week and didn't see a heart beat but I was only measured around 6 weeks. I wonder why my levels are so much higher than what I've seen posted on here. Positive vibes to all, I'm so nervous about every little thing

At 5w5d we could see just a gestational sac/yolk sac and I was told that seeing that much meant my levels were at least 6,000. Didn't check a level though so who knows.
