I want to feel the baby move!!

I'm 16wks2d and I haven't felt the baby move yet. I'm dying to feel him or her move. I heard it's very different from anything you've ever felt before so I'd know if I had felt it and missed it. Everywhere says I'll feel between 16-20 weeks. Anyone else 16+ weeks and hasn't felt anything yet?

Re: I want to feel the baby move!!

  • I'm 16 weeks 4 days, and just today started to feel him\her! On my ultrasound at 13 weeks baby was measuring a week big, but they didn't change my due day so, its probably more like 17 weeks 4 days. Hang in there! I was so relieved when it finally happened this morning! I have a tilted uterus, not sure if that affects it.

  • Poke yourself in the tummy. That's what it feels like. ;) It'll happen! And it is pretty wonderful.

  • It is possible to feel it and not notice when it's this early. With my first I had to lay down on my back (preferably on something solid) and you might feel flutters. It's actually kind of similar to gas pains or muscle twitches which is why a lot of first time moms don't feel it until 20-25 weeks. I'm 16 weeks tomorrow and this is my second. I have thought I've felt baby move already but not 100% that's what it was. I know it can be a anxious time. Trust me, before you know it you will be like "dangit child stop kicking me the ribs. It hurts!"
  • I'm 16 weeks today and before I got out of bed this morning and was lying super still half on my back and half on my side, I could have sworn I felt some flutters - could totally have just been gas though!
  • I'm 16 weeks 2 days and still nothing. Waiting impatiently lol.

  • With DS I didn't feel him move until around 24 weeks but my placenta was in the front.

I felt DS at 20 or 21 weeks. I might have felt him before that without realizing it. I haven't felt this baby yet.

16 weeks is still pretty early. i didn't feel any real movement from my LO until about 19-20 weeks. but i also have an anterior placenta, so i didn't expect to feel any movement until some time after 20 weeks.

it is definitely a feeling like no other :) but at 16 weeks, LO's movements can easily be mistaken for a muscle twitch or gas bubble. once baby gets bigger though, there will be no mistaking it!
  • I was around 17 weeks when I started to feel my first. But once I felt it, I felt it all the time. With this one I've felt it sooner, but a lot less frequently. I haven't felt anything in a few days. 16 weeks is still very early to feel anything, especially for a FTM.

  • I've been so gassy this whole time, I'm afraid I won't be able to tell the difference!
  • I am 17 weeks today and still no movement. I am also really hoping to start feeling him/her moving around!
  • 16+3 here and I haven't felt anything yet. In the same boat as other FTM's and really ready to feel that first little kick!!
  • 16w5d and nothing definitive.  I've thought I've felt a flutter here and there but it could very well be gas too.
    Me: 29
    The Mr.: 31
    EDD: 6/2/16

  • I've felt a few kicks all when I was laying down in the middle of the night.. so not sure if it is just how I was laying that I could feel.. but nothing frequent. I agree, I want to feel more.. I think it will make everything feel more real..

I can't wait to feel her! I was told I have an anterior placenta though so it might take a bit longer to feel movement  oh I'm 16w5d
  • I've felt baby Lane kicking since 16 weeks exact and I'm 16 weeks 2 days and over weight. It feels like somebody taking a bunch of blocks and dumping them out lol. That's how I describe it.
  • I'm 16w5d and I haven't felt anything. There have been a few times when I possibly felt something but absolutely nothing of which I can be sure. I'm starting to get impatient.

This, exactly. I'm looking forward to feeling him/her more frequently. I love the reassurance.

  • With my daughter I had an anterior placenta, so it took me forever to feel her! Drove me crazy because with my first I felt him super early.
Still waiting this time, I'm 15 weeks and only felt flutters twice.

  • I'm at 17 weeks and the ultrasound tech said I probably won't feel anything for another MONTH!! FTM, also.
But the ultrasound today... That little man is kicking and somersaulting something fierce- I can't believe I don't feel a thing!

I'm 16w3d & my fiance & I felt the baby kick, or elbow/knee etc. multiple times in a row early this morning ♡
Edited to add: This is baby number two, I didn't feel my DD kick until 17w?d, so I wouldn't worry!
  • This is good to read.  I'm 14w3d and sometimes think I feel flutters but then think I'm just being optimistic and really just feeling digestion.  I know I'll feel so much more confident when I can feel kicks.  With my daughter I think they started around 17w.
