STM+ swing maamaroo, bouncy seat ?

So DD is 3. She has been pretty good with all things baby. I'm scheduled for c section 12/28 and wondering what other moms did about bringing the baby things out. Did you wait until after baby was home or get it out earlier? She wouldn't be able to sit in them because she weighs too much. I don't want to "tempt" her but I also want to maybe give her time to get used to it. We have  all 3 and I'll keep a swing up then a maamaroo down and use the bouncy to move around as needed. More so for if I need to be hands free for 2 minutes.

Re: STM+ swing maamaroo, bouncy seat ?

  • I have a glider swing that my son actually slept in until he was 8 months old (definitely won't do that again). He just turned one and we had to move the swing to our living room to make room for the second crib. He has been very rough with it, but I'd rather him do so now when I can correct him, then when we have a newborn in it! He's slowly getting used to it and showing less interest.

  • We put out a few things a couple weeks ago. He wanted to get in/on them at first (he's 22 months) but has since lost interest and is happy putting a doll in it instead.
  • We have everything out so even the cat can get used to it. I think it's better to have everything where you want it well before hand since you will be having a C-section so there's no worries and it's one less thing to worry about so you can focus on baby and making sure you don't over do it so you can heal properly.
  • I have slowly been pulling out different things. The boys like to plays with the lights and sounds on the bassinet but haven't tried to go into anything, crib, bassinet etc. I am endings with the swing because I think that will be the most tempting. But I figure once we have the "this is babies" thing going they will leave it alone.

  • I am not due until the 24th. Our plan is to take down the tree and Christmas decor this coming weekend and set up the baby stuff so my son can get used to it.
  • I put things out a few weeks ago. My 2.5yr old had been really good about leaving them around now that they've been out a little while. He'll walk by and be like that's for baby sister.
  • Thanks ladies! I'm thinking we need to at least give her a few days to see it and get used to it.
  • We have a very curious busy two year old. I got things out a couple months ago to get him used to them. I knew he would want to climb in them and push buttons and all. I let him help me wipe them down and wash the fabric parts in the washing machine. We had a couple weeks of learning he was too big for them and they needed to be ready for our new baby. Now he doesn't even pay attention to them and the crib is in his room. I'm so happy I got him prepared months ago when I had energy to work with him.
  • I want to get all of my stuff set up. I'm a planner. I like things organized and ready to go. However, our house is small and I can't really get things set up until the Christmas tree goes down. We're going away from the 23rd to the 27th but I couldn't live without the tree this year. We will be taking the tree down on the 28th and I will probably pull out the baby stuff on the 29th.

My son is 2.5 and I am sure will want to play in all of it. My friend loaned us a co-sleeper this time around and I set it up in the living room a few days ago. My son thought it was the coolest thing and wanted to sleep in the bottom storage part of it. I had to continually tell him that he was too big to climb in it. I ended up leaving it up for a couple days. By the second day (and the hundredth+ reminder not to climb inside), he left it alone completely. This morning he was putting toys in it and saying that they were for the baby. I'm hoping this is the same case with the swing and the bouncer when I get them out in a week(ish).
