I'm excited! I love reading things outside of my comfort zone, which is mainly YA. My bookshelves do not have an "adult" vibe whatsoever... I love Kristin cashore and would totally read either one of those again too. :)
  • BUMP! Keep on voting all!

Looks like Still Alice is in the lead. Deadline to vote is coming up.
  • I've never heard of any of these either. I'd love to join, but we'll see if I can make it through any of these selections!
  • So, is Still Alice the winner?

  • Can someone tell me the rules of book club?

Or is the first rule to never talk about book club (had to sorry!)

Do we have to follow the reading plan or can we read on our own time and speed (just finish before the deadline)?

Just nervous I get really into it and then I won't be able to stop? Sorry if this is a silly question, I really don't know.
  • I downloaded Still Alice on my kindle and started it today. Didn't know we'd have a reading schedule, or will we?

There are 336 pages in the book. So... Do we want to do a check in every week and do 84 pages a week? If of course the 84th page is in the middle of a passage then we just round to the nearest break? I don't see chapters. .

ETA: If we want to do this.... I've marked the book for week 1 pages 1-85. Week 2 pages 85-169. Week 3 pages 169-256. Week 4 pages 256-336?

  • What day is going to be the "end" of the week when we should have read the 84 pages?

Perfect, think this is a great idea. Do we want to end each week on Sunday and start the next set of 84 pages on Monday?

Sounds good to me. I usually come on here Sundays to catch up from the weekends.

Since we are starting this at the first of the year I guess we should do the first check in on the 10th??
