With my first two babies, the house we bought had a nursery already so we freshened up the paint when we found out our first was a boy and that was it. Now we live in a different house and baby will be in our room for a while til we can get a bigger place, so no nursery this time. I've already done it so I'm ok with not having one for this baby
We are doing a clean gender neutral nursery because I hate how cheesy most nurseries look. I think gender may determine some bedding (mostly a nonissue with infants anyway) and lighting and maybe color of crib (white or natural wood). But regardless we are doing the lightest of light grey walls, white curtains, a neutral rocker/glider, etc. Here is an example of the look I like (but of course this is glitz'ed up for a girl!)
Dark furniture in nursery (all of our furniture is dark--like our shriveled souls), we are using existing artwork (Batman themed regardless of sex), yellows, greens, greys on bedding (I would do white, but babies produce some copious bodily fluids, I wish you luck @theshannondee). Probably grey walls as well, because anything except whites, tans, greys, and grey-blues make me want to pluck my own eyes out.
I should add that my husband is influencing most of the nursery decor (The Batman theme, the dark furniture) because I'm concerned with covering their sleeping arrangement, safety, feeding, and storage of their things in an orderly manner, beyond that I'm lost and confused, wondering what the point of various things on the nursery - building list actually is.
We have no idea really except white furniture. We are getting our cribs from IKEA because there's no reason to pay $300 each when I need two. I already have a white changing table that was given to me, just needs some fresh paint.
If we have both boys it'll be some kind of non-cheesy woodland outdoorsy thing, foxes and bears, you know, and if we have two girls it'll be enchanted Forest. If we have one of each it'll be some kind of gender neutral variation of both.
I plan on finding out what we're having and not telling anyone but my husband and I. I want to do something gender neutral as well, and I love the idea of a peterpan theme. Nothing overtly obvious, but a nod to the movie... I'm obsessed with this print for example. I can't wait to decorate !
No theme for us... Walls and carpet are already a cream colored so based off boy or girl we'll prolly do peaches, pinks and cream for a girl and light blues, greens and greys for a boy.

Look at you, making your nursery all crisp as fuck!
Thank God someone asked. Come hell or high water, I am putting wallpaper on the wall behind the crib. these are my ideas for a girls and boys nursery thus far.
I must express myself. If my husband does not let me gut out the nursery and make it my own, I will go insane and take him with me. Special treat for anyone who recognizes what movie I got this obscure quote from. If you're a child of the eighties, you might have a chance
Our future nursery has been the junk room since we bought our house last year, so my biggest concern is cleaning it out. Ugh! Regardless of whether it's a boy or girl, we will keep the dark robin's egg blue wall color, install white curtains with black trim, and get a white crib. The rug and art will be loosely fairy tale/enchanted forest themed for a girl. For a boy, we'll use a red oriental rug and art with a toy soldier theme.
We are doing a cloud/rain theme because our last name is Rainwater. We are stenciling raindrops on the wall behind the crib and then lots of grey and blue and silver. I'm keeping all of the furniture white.
These ideas are so adorable! We want woodland creatures but I stink at decorating so will be following this thread closely! Who else is doing woodland themed? Share your pins!
Does this work? I don't care if you see my last name, honestly I have tons of strangers following me. But this is my baby board. Check this Board out on Pinterest! I thought you'd like this Board on Pinterest... https://pin.it/sRFuNUr
It has some woodland things, as its our maybe theme too. I also like this:
This is taken from that nursery ideas thread at the top of the board. I adore it! Previously I was never really into the white or "off white" furniture but I'm especially digging it right now. And I love the stars on the ceiling. I'd want that regardless of the sex.

We did woodland theme for DS: a big turtle shell on the wall (Nate Burkus for Target), cute bunting flags a friend made us, a moss covered initial (Hobby Lobby I think), some animal figures, and lots of stuffed woodland creatures. Simple but cute!
This baby's nursery theme is "craft room/toy room" HA! Baby has to share a room with the office until he/she's old enough to move in with DS.
I want a pretty neutral nursery, whether it's boy or girl. If it's a girl, I'll add in some vintage flower prints on the wall or flowery crib sheets. If it's a boy, I'll add more bear/woodland animals. Our room is already painted tan, so the only change we'd make is white curtains and paint white stripes on the wall behind the crib.
We are doing some renovations to the house in the spring (our current bedroom will become LO's room) so I can't even think nursery until we get through that. We did a neutral theme for DD, even after we knew we were having a girl (safari theme). I'm leaning neutral again with this LO, regardless of the sex, but not quite sure what theme yet. I was in Hobby Lobby recently and they had some really cute wall stickers that would be nice in a nursery (owls, safari animals, etc).
I'm probably going to have the baby share a room with DD, so I'll just add to her existing nursery. If it's another girl I will literally just add a name banner, and if it's a boy I'll change the pink curtains to blue, brown, or green, and add some more gender neutral things.
Currently her nursery is a mix of pink, burlap, and birds with some shabby chic touches.
I know what I don't like: themes, neutrals like grey or beige, and when everything matches perfectly. We'll end up doing something eclectic, probably some wallpaper, a mixture of old and new furniture, an Oriental carpet, and some great art.
I thought about doing grey, blue, and orange with foxes but a friend of mine told me that was "too boyish" so I've been pinning other ideas just in case. I'm not committed to the idea so now I'm just looking at other ideas to see if anything jumps out at me. I'd like to do something gender neutral-ish.
I love DSs nursery so I don't know how we will top it. We had DHs aunt custom make all the bedding and the curtains. 2.0 might get a bedding set from target, sorry 2.0.
We were pinning a lot lot of stuff when I first found out and people on Facebook were starting to get suspicious so I deleted that one. I have a smaller one now and of course I miss all the pins I had. I have a private one now for twin things, as we haven't announced any of that publicly yet lol. Damn Pinterest catching me out.

You can change your Pinterest settings so they don't show up on Facebook!

How do get the cool ceiling like that?!
A friend of mine did this for his son's nursery. He had to drill a million holes in the ceiling and then thread the individual fiber optic lights in from the attic. It seemed like a hell of a lot of work, but it does look adorable.
@DominiqueU I wonder if this could be done with a sort of 'artificial ceiling'? I imagine it would only change the height of the room by 4 to 6 inches.

Definitely a possibility. I would have no clue how to go about doing that, but I'm sure a craftier person than I could figure it out.
I am also not a fan of themes. We simply did a teal, gray, and yellow pallet. Simple. We also knew this would be the same room for subsequent children...we have a daughter so it would need to fit for a son if we were to have one.
We are doing gender neutral-- orange, gray, and white. The walls are already a soft marigold color. We are going to paint one accent wall orange. Gray curtains. Crib and bookcase white. We have a twin bed for the room as well that will have a gray comforter and orange sheets. We are going to get large wooden alphabet letters of different sizes and designs and paint them various colors to hang on the wall. I'm so excited to get started!
I'm not really doing anything. LO will be sharing a room with DD so we'll just add personalized touches to the new baby's part of the room. I'm not into themes. I like neutral rooms with dark wood, and my touches of colour come from blankets, pillows, and art work, which will be easy to add once the baby is born (team green again).
ETA: I'm more concerned about organizing and fitting furniture in in a functional way so the room isn't too crowded!
I painted the nursery a sage green and plan to get a beige and brown area rug for the floor. Furnishings will be oak or oakish (to match the vintage dresser we are using as a changing table. For decor I have Super Mario Bros and Legend of Zelda decals. Beyond that I figure I will wait and see what inspires me.
I'm not set on anything, but all the nursery stuff I've pinned seems to incorporate clouds. So I think I'll do something with clouds and put some storybook illustrations around the room. I want to have a lot of books in there, so it will just be a cheery little place

I'm not entirely sure, but on the actual post it says fiber optics.

I really like this Winnie the Pooh theme. Soft yellow walls, white furniture and just a hint of pooh.
