Itchy!

I've always had dry skin especially in the winter. I also have psorasis. But recently, my skin has become so itchy I want to crawl out of it! I've been putting coconut oil on right after my shower, add will add using Aveno dry skin therapy. My skin isn't dry, and somehow my psorasis patches are almost gone, but I'm still so itchy!

Anyone else having this issue? Is it pregnancy related or just winter?

Re: Itchy!

  • I get sooo super itchy when pregnant. My hands are raw from scratching them. Lotion is not helping.

  • Are you RH negative? If you're RH negative and your baby is RH positive it could be a rash/ itching because of the clashing blood types inside of you. I would talk to your OB about it next time you see him/her.
  • I've now got an itchy spot right in the middle of my back and skin is so dry! Been like this for weeks.
  • I thought I was the only one.  I am also quite itchy, not because of dry skin or some awful bug bites.  Hope you find some relief soon!  I am blaming the cold weather,  which is what I blame everything on.
  • I have been super itchy on my stomach area and upper thighs so bad for the last couple weeks. I talked to my OB at our appointment Saturday and she said it's probably a mix of the winter weather and skin starting to stretch a bit as weight adjusts.
  • I have heard that pregnancy can make you really itchy because of all the body changes but I've also heard that severe itchiness could be signs of other things.  I would definitely check with your OB just to be sure.

Nope, I'm RH positive. Thanks for all your input!
  • I am so glad someone posted this! I am about to jump right out of my skin from itching! I had always heard that the belly itches as the skin stretches but I'm itchy all over to the point I can barely sit still at work! Does anyone have a specific lotion they're using that is helping with this? I heard Jergens ultra dry works well but I haven't tried it yet.
  • My nipples have been itchy :/
  • With my first pregnancy my eczema flared up in my first trimester and my OB said that was typical. It was much better by the 2nd trimester. No issues with this pregnancy this far!

  • I've always been itchy and the pregnancy seems like it makes it worse. I have in shower lotion and I lotion again as soon as I get out. Still itch. Drives me insane.
  • Aquafor is great..
  • I always have dry hands and feet and that has been particularly bad since winter started. But by boobs definitely also itch as they grow! It's the only area I've had change so it's noticible. They were itchy a few weeks ago then it stopped for awhile, and my bras were still fitting but full. They've been itchy again the past few days and now I feel like it's actually time to go up a cup size! Argh.
  • I have been SO itchy too! My OB thinks it's a medication reaction but the benefits of taking the medication outweigh the itching :( I am miserable! Often times I rush home from work and spend the rest of the night in my robe so my clothes don't irritate my skin. I have been using Eucerin shower lotion, which has been the most helpful.
  • I itch like crazy. MotherLove makes a pregnancy balm that is my salvation. It's the only thing that works for me.

  • I make my own lotions. I use shea butter as base and then add, coconut oil, almond oil, avocado oil, and vitamine E oil. My skin has not been itching at all. I hope it helps.
