Mini Cribs

Hey all you Second-Third-Fourth-and more!-Time Moms, I have a question for you: Has anyone had a "mini crib"? And if yes, how was it? Pros/Cons?

This is the one we were looking at, since our space is small btw: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4042807&quickShop=true

Thanks!

Heh, weird. It still seems to work for me - It's the DaVinci Kalani Mini Crib at Babies'R'Us

My son, who is now 18 months, has been in a mini-crib since he was born. I keep considering getting him a normal sized crib, but he seems perfectly happy in there even though he looks like a giant! We will probably just go straight to a toddler bed around two years old.

eta: We have the same one you linked to. I got an adorable mini-crib sheet set off Etsy, bumpers and everything (which, don't worry, we only started using once he was much older--it makes the space cozier). The downside to a mini crib is not being able to find cute sheets, but Etsy has fabulous options!

     - Thanks for the response! Can I ask for a link to the Etsy shop? (Etsy is my HUGE weakness ...) :D

I have this folding mini crib. It has been used for 2 of my babies and 2 of my friend's babies. I have a full sized crib downstairs and this mini crib upstairs. This way the baby can be downstairs during my older kids' naptime and upstairs when my kids are making a bunch of noise downstairs. If I didn't have 2 floors, this would be my only crib until around 18 months, when they can transition to a toddler bed.

We had that same mini crib as your link for LO #1 and he slept in it until he transitioned to a twin sized bed. I echo others' comments that it's hard to find sheets that fit mini cribs, but we ended up finding what we needed (matress pad and fitted sheets) on Amazon. We didn't get a quilt or bumper for it, but really didn't need those things anyways.

  • The shop actually went out to of business :( but I would just take a look around. Cute sheets are the best!

  • Thanks for this post. I am considering a mini crib for one of my twins after the first few months (they'll share a regular crib at first that we already own). Their nursery is an awkward size so we need to save on space. I hadn't thought about it being hard to find crib sheets though. Bummer. :(
  • @2.red.heads finding crib sheets is a actually not difficult, I was just very particular and picky :)

  • I'm debating this for my second, as we just found out we are having another girl, and i'd like to get them sleeping in the same room. That was my first thought about the sheets etc. though. Do the mini's convert just like the regular size eventually?
  • Babyletto now has adorable mini crib sheets!!!
