Any 1st or STM high risk -- last pregnancy with DD had pre-e and high BP which started around week 30. This time around bc of my weight they have me on aspirin regimen and doing glucose at 17 weeks...anyone else having to do this??
I am getting a glucose test next week. So I will be 14-15 weeks (depending on when I go in). I had GD last time and after I delivered I was still glucose intolerant, so they are testing me early (and if I pass, often).
I am 14 weeks and have to go in within next week. They told me they want to check me early because of my age. Never had any problems with the first 4 so hoping I won't this time either!
I'm a little overweight so my doctor wanted to do the glucose screening early. I failed the 1 hour so need to do the 3 hour. Good luck to everyone doing the screen soon!
FTM 13+3 - I'm overweight as well and my MD wants to test me at 18 weeks as opposed to 20... I've heard the drink is pretty gross!
Huh. I'm overweight, and now wondering if they'll test early. This kinda depresses me. I didn't care that I was overweight until I accidentally got pregnant. Now I feel self-conscious about it. I wish I would have known the future, as I could have dieted or something... not that I would have necessarily been successful. I weighed a lot less at the start of my other pregnancies.
I asked about it with my first pregnancy but they said because I was in my 20s and not obese (although I am somewhat overweight) they wouldn't test early. I was worried because my sisters had it with their pregnancies even though they were also in their 20s and normal-weight. I passed the test on my last pregnancy but I'm worried again this time...I was about 15 lbs heavier when I got pregnant this time. My midwife just ordered a random glucose to see if there was any reason to see if we should be concerned at this point.
I had GD last pregnancy and am older and heavier than I was last time. With all of these risk factors I've been very concerned and asked about early testing. My Drs. office said they wouldn't test until 28 weeks because that's when the hormone that triggers GD is released. From what I read, that's just not right.
Because I've been concerned, I bought a glucose monitor and have been testing my levels in the morning and after meals. They are okay if I eat a generally low carb meal but I bet I'd fail if I took the glucose test now. So I'm basically treating myself as having it even though I haven't been diagnosed yet.
Don't stress about being overweight, I got it and had to be insulin dependent and even then couldn't get my numbers under control and I was tiny and didn't gain much weight in my pregnancy! Sometimes it's just in the cards for you and sometimes it isn't. I had a friend gain 75 in her pregnancy and she passed the glucose test with flying colors.
Our situations are almost identical, I had pre e with dd at 36 weeks. I'm having my glucose test at 20 weeks and if I pass that will have another at 26 weeks. My Dr is really supportive and not hard on me because of my weight. I was very nervous for my first appointment but he was very reassuring. I'm not really concerned about the glucose but I am very worried about having pre e again. I am wondering why you are on an aspirin regimen?
I am having it done on Thursday. I will be 13 weeks. I'm high risk due to 2 losses caused from mthfr. They have to draw blood once a month since I'm on lovenox and the last draw my sugar level was a little elevated.
I decline early GD testing. The evidence doesn't support it either way strongly. My A1Cs between pregnancy #1(GD w/ insulin) & #2(no GD) were fine & I passed a 2 hour GTT. Early glucose screening doesn't diagnose GD, it diagnoses diabetes that wasn't caught before pregnancy.

I don't because it can start around 24 weeks and my doctor tests for it between 28-30. My A1C is normal as well but I'd rather know 6 weeks earlier so I don't do more damage than needs to be done. By the time mine was diagnosed with my son my blood sugar was over 300 with the one hour test
I'm having testing done next week at 15 weeks. I had gestational dm last pregnancy, and I am carrying multiples. I will be on progesterone 17 shots after 16 weeks. Which puts me on a higher risk to develop it again. As soon as I delivered last time, the next morning my blood sugar was normal again.
For those of you who are getting some weird messages about being overweight (I use that lightly..this is according to bmi standards I assume) check out Plus Size Mommy Memoirs on facebook. Its a very supportive group.

24 weeks is far different than the testing being done at 8, 12, or even 16 weeks. GD does not start that early & any diabetes diagnosed from those tests would be previously undiagnosed diabetes. Which is why I said what I said. A test at 12 weeks would not show anything different than my A1Cs. My providers have drawn A1Cs at my 12-16 week appts but I decline to dump 50g of sugar into my system for something that's not thoroughly research & none of the governing bodies for doctors can agree upon.
