Last minute pampering?

Anyone else doing (or did you do) last minute pampering? I'm getting my hair done tomorrow! Getting turquoise added to the under layer of my hair!! I've been wanting it for years, but since I'll be a SAHM after he's born, I can finally do something "unprofessional"! Hehe
(38w6d tomorrow)

Re: Last minute pampering?

  • Really hoping to get a prenatal massage for my birthday next week!
  • Loading the player...
  • - Massages every week to use up our benefits. Really happy about that
    - did some craft lessons and see if projects which is a nice time luxury
    - Normally I wouldn't pay for a mani/pedi, but I was gifted both.
    - reading lots of sci-fi :)

    So excited. :)
  • I don't normally get them too often, but I planning on squeezing another pedi or 2 in before baby's arrival.

That and the change in my work hrs decreasing dramatically are enough pampering :)
  • I didn't before but I'm getting some things for pampering myself at home now. I get a nice break when hubby watches the kids so I can take a bath. I enjoy just relaxing and listening to music for a while, toss in some bath salts and some skin treatments.
  • I got a pedicure the other day. Mostly because I can't reach my toenails to cut them and it was getting out of control. ;)

@ArielleRene Turquoise is fun! I had purple streaks in my hair for most of this pregnancy. They were just difficult to maintain and got expensive! The perk of being a professor: purple hair and a nose piercing and I'm still considered professional!
  • Getting a mani pedi tomorrow after my OB appointment... Thank. The. Lord.
  • @Court11152325 I got my nose done summer 2014 when I made the switch from full time teaching to subbing! Hair is a little more noticeable to the principals. Haha.

Jealous of the mani/pedis! I have a friend who is a cosmetology student. I may see if she can help me out!
  • Def did weekly prenatal massages, bi weekly pedi mani and eye brow. I guess these days are over now that I'm in labor. Do it up my friends
  • I'm definitely getting a pedi done next week th should last me until I can reach my toes again! I also like the idea of getting my hair done!!
  • My mom insisted on paying for a haircut, and mani/pedi before the baby arrives. She is so sweet. And she knows I can't reach my feet. I also got a deal on Groupon for a prenatal massage, and I am taking a personal day from work to do all of that pampering, followed by a special date night with my hubby. Trying to make the most of these last weeks.
  • Hoping for pedi/eyebrows today-
Prenatal from your flex spend?? I need to research! I have $$ I have to spend by the end of the month! Exciting
@Taylovesbrad good luck on your labor! I hope it goes quick!!
  • Definitely getting my hair done in the next week or so. I'm debating on waiting until after baby to do my nails. If we take any professional pictures where you see my hands and nails I want them to look nice!
  • Probably just going to get my eyebrows done, since we don't have a lot of money for extra stuff right now. To be honest, my mom coming down and helping in a week will be pampering to me. That way I don't have to get up at 6am to get my daughter off to school, or always worry about dinner or cleaning after working an 8 hour day. Or bend over to give my daughter a bath. Oh my god the ability to take an hour-long nap without it being an accident? I can't wait.
  • Mani Pedi! It was heavenly
  • Just got my hair done for the first time in almost a year, dyed and cut, and will be getting my eyebrows done sometime this week. Finally off work so I feel like I can attempt at looking nice for once(I'm a dog groomer, looking good does not mix well with all the sweating, water and dog hair everywhere).
  • I got a mani/pedi Sunday and my hair done Tuesday! It was nice  I'd say it's definitely worth it
  • Have fun getting pampered ladies! I would love a mani/pedi but can't have any polish because I am havig a csection. My poor feet will have to wait.

  • Last night I got a mani pedi and a prenatal massage! Then i walked around the outdoor mall for an hour with a decaf latte and all the pretty lights. My mom was home with my toddler. It. Was. Glorious.
  • @Katy0525 why can't you have polish bc of the c-section? Just curious bc I'm scheduled too but didn't know that was a restriction...
  • My hospital said just do light colors for a section, like French. I'm getting a mani/pedi on Monday and having a c-section Wednesday morning! Also getting a blowout Tuesday afternoon... Major indulgence but I'm so excited for my last childless date night with DH that night!
  • @blended10, @Katy0525 This will be my 4th c-section and I've never heard of that restriction either. My cousin is an RN and she said they aren't allowed to wear acrylics because some patients might be allergic (but why they would be touching a patient without gloves is a mystery to me). Anyway, I've just never heard of the patient not being able to wear nail polish. If I can't go get a pedi, I at least intend to paint my toes (or have dh do them for me).

@steffnstuff you're right- I called my ob & they said a pedi was absolutely fine- they said sometimes fingernail polish can screw with the pulse/ox but toes are a-ok. Back in the day they'd use nail color as an indicator of pulse/ox levels but now they have machines for that!

Eta: at my pedi right now!
  • Oh yeah, def a pedicure happening real soon! My eyebrow waxer said she would come to me if I don't make it to my next appt.!!!
  • I got a mani/pedi today and it was awesome. I wish I had gotten my eyebrows down cause they look Iike bush's growing on my face but after work and the mani/pedi I was just too tired.

I wanted to. But i have to be to hospital by midnight to begin induction.
  • @steffnstuff Technically most hospital employees are not allowed to wear any finger nail polish (toenail polish is fine). The rule to my understanding mostly comes from NICU babies dying from infections that they traced back to artificial nails the nurses were wearing (which are apparently almost impossible to truly keep clean). For those of us that work in hospitals but our jobs do not require physically touching patients typically they will usually ignore plain nail polish or shellac as long as the color is fairly neutral and well maintained but we could definitely get in trouble for having fake nails.
  • Finally got a nice haircut (after 8 months ugh) and a prenatal massage. Other than that, I've started cashing in on asking my husband for late night treats which I've been holding off on until now and it's been totally worth it-he's super cool with it!

@blended10 I am jealous of you mommas being allowed to have polish! For my first csection the nurse said no nail polish and I just got the call yesterday from the hospital to go over details for my section on monday and again the nurse said no polish. Maybe it is a weird thing at my hospital? I didn't ask why I just assumed it was an everywhere thing.

Edit to add: during my last csection they put the pulse/ox thing on my toe afterward the surgery and not my finger. Maybe that is why.

  • I've been thinking about doing a pedi but I'm nervous about it because of how swollen my feet are...they hurt to be touched at this point :(
  • Got a mani/pedi today! Was amazing
  • I had a spa mani/pedi, facial, and hair trimmed. :)
Keeping me distracted. I feel like I'm going to be pregnant forever! (40.5)

It's because of the pulse ox....
