Carrying low

Is anyone else carrying super low and only feeling kicks lower in your abdomen? I'm 26 weeks and can feel her move often but never near/above belly botton always lower.... is this normal?

Re: Carrying low

  • I'm carrying low, but am able to feel kicks above.  Do you know where your placenta is lying?  That could be an indicator of why you're not feeling more.

  • 90% of what I feel comes from below my bikini line, like what feels like behind my pubic bone.  Starting this weekend it actually hurts a little to walk.  My natural reaction is to want to squat, like thinking it would relieve the pressure, but I know it wont.  I can't believe this started already.  Ultra sound tech told me baby is touching cervix with feet, making it feel really low.
  • I am carrying this little guy a lot lower than  DS1. I have felt a few moments/kicks around my belly button but 9 times out 10 they are pretty low still.

My little man is the lowest of all of my previous but I expected as much because every one of them has been slightly lower than the one before. I don't feel kicks higher than my belly button.

  • Im nearly 27 weeks, and ive only just started feeling things above the belly button very recently. My placenta is anterior, my mw mapped it out for me so i know where it lies from the outside, and ive only been able to feel movement there (and on the outside only) very recently also. So maybe your placenta is high and babe isnt quite strong enough yet? Or her fave position might just be your cervix!
  • @alligreer88 omg the PRESSURE! I don't remember it being this bad with DD1 but this time I'm in so much pain already! Not super thrilled for the next 12-14 weeks...
  • My LO has stayed mostly low, but the other day I got a nice hard jab to the ribs, not fun. But most of the movement I feel has been just below my belly button, though I feel like he's trying to move around. My baby has been breech most of the pregnancy, so it would make sense to feel things lower since his feet are there. Is baby breeched? I also agree with the placenta, mine is anterior and I still barely feel stuff there at 29 weeks.

  • My belly looks super low, it always does, but I get kicked in the ribs all the time.  Sometimes simultaneously with getting kicked in the cervix.  I guess I thought that was normal, or do I have some kind of giant baby in there?!?

Is there a correlation between carrying low and having a low lying placenta? Just curious since I have a follow up ultrasound this week to check on my low lying placenta. Mr. Baby is still really low so I'm wondering if that means my placenta hasn't "moved" yet.

  • The extreme pressure I was feeling over the weekend/Monday disappeared.  I did about 8 loads of laundry and finished Christmas shopping which meant going to 9 stores over the weekend.  Maybe I just over did it?  I'm officially on self-prescribed light duty from here on out.  :-)
  • I am carrying low and my OB said it was completely normal.
  • Same here; low belly, almost all the time feeling lo low. I'm actually everytime surprised when i feel him above my bellybutton (that's not a lot)..;)
  • I'm carrying low, and I often feel movement around my bikini line. However, the spot I feel kicks the most is level with my belly button all the way on the right.
