Monday night, I slept for 45 minutes and last night I managed 2 hours. I've tried Benadryl, but it makes me twitchy. Warm baths don't help either. Help me! I need sleep!
I try really hard not to, but occasionally I take a Unisom. It's Class B, so ok for pregnant ladies, and if I don't I would get hardly any sleep at all. It's weird, though...half a tablet is not enough and a full one makes me feel like I was shot with an elephant tranquilizer.
No advice, but I feel for you and I'm in a similar boat. I'm not quite as extreme--I've managed to get 3-4 hours at least every night, but my body runs best on 8, and it is wearing on me. Usually I can fall asleep without much trouble and then I'm up at 1 or 2---hot, restless, and uncomfortable. It sucks.
Unisom has saved me after a multiple bad nights. Like pp- I try to limit it but when you hit a wall I feel like I end up not sleeping because I'm so worried about getting sleep. Things that have worked in the middle of the night... Making lists of everything floating around my head, getting out of bed and doing something like laundry, dishes and sometimes just moving to the guest bed or the couch after walking around a little will help.
I feel for you momma! It really takes a toll on you
Ugh I'm so sorry! Insomnia sucks. One thing that sometimes helps me is to do a body scan. https://www.mindful.org/the-body-scan-practice/ Or some breathing exercises. I hope you can get some rest soon!
Last night was my first night of it this pregnancy. Off course, stressing about not getting back to sleep probably didn't help. Last time, I remember frequently being up for 3hrs in the middle of the night and nothing worked except waiting it out.
This may sound weird but I can't sleep without my ceiling fan on. It does bug the crap out of DH but I will literally lay there for hours and then as soon as I turn it on I fall asleep. I would recommend Benedryl but you said that didn't help Also a back rub from DH isn't bad either
I spend hours tossing and turning. I've started getting up and reading or cleaning if I spend more than 40 mins awake during the night. Hubby snores once he's deep asleep and I just end up irrationally angry at him for getting sleep, so it's better for both of us if I don't lay there angry lol
I've had insomnia pretty bad ever since around the 28 week mark. As others have said, I make it worse by laying awake and stressing over not getting enough sleep. A good trick I learned is to avoid looking at the clock - if I sit there and think "Oh, it's 11 PM, if I don't fall asleep soon I'll only get X hours of sleep" it just keeps me awake. I've also moved down the hall to the spare bedroom - it makes me sad to sleep apart from DH, but his snoring/tossing and turning doesn't help me sleep at all. And if all else fails, I take one 25 mg Benadryl - that usually knocks me out!

Oh my gosh this made me want to turn on the ceiling fan! My husband would kill me in freezing temps. But now I want to so much.
I am experiencing insomnia right now. For the past few nights I sleep from about 11 or 12 until 3am and then I am just up. Even if I take a sleeping pill, I still manage to wake up. I am less stressed because I don't have to work tomorrow, but I'd rather not be a zombie!
I managed to sleep til 6am this morning which is a new record for me! I wake at 12 and 3 usually, then give up and get up at 4-4.30. Get a lot done! Cleaned the whole house yesterday by 5.30 hehe! And catch up on trashy tv til DH wakes up. Now I'm off work for a couple weeks, being shattered won't be so bad, but when I was working it was killing me. Have no ideas/remedies for sleeping longer. If anyone has one, would love to hear it!!!

I have to be cold to sleep. Like cold to the point where my lungs will freeze if I'm not bundled in the blanket. I leave a fan on and the window open.. Screw DH, I'm doing the hard work!
@DrillSergeantCat I totally get the twitchy feeling from benedryl too! What I do is only take 1 benedryl and then 1 Tylenol with it. I haven't had that twitching feeling that way. Or I take 1 Tylenol pm and 1 regular tylenol. It's helped me a ton!
@ARogers26 Have you tried taking Zantac? I take 2 150mg a day. My doc says it's totally safe. I would wake up in tears because I could barely breathe, the heartburn was so bad. I would just burp up bile (sorry... maybe that's a tmi). But this has been a lifesaver.
Hope you all find relief! I know the next 8 weeks for me are going to be tricky! But any little trick helps!
The heart burn was totally my fault. I knew better. Chili cheese hotdog, Doritos at a birthday party. I have a bottle of tums by the bed that usually does the trick but with the insomnia I have been sleeping on the couch so I don't keep hubs up.
I got two hours again last night from 11-1. I keep the fan on, the thermostat is on 68, my room is the coldest one in the house, but I have a cold and when I lay down it feels like I'm drowning. I've slept on the sofa bed a few times and I actually sleep okay out there, but it bothers my SO because he feels like I should have the comfortable bed but I'm not going to wake him up to kick him out. Last night, I woke up with a "Food Glorious Food" from Oliver running through my head on repeat so I'm thinking this is anxiety induced. I crawled in the tub and stayed there for an hour and a half. When I laid down in bed again I thought I was going to go to sleep, but the drowning feeling started.
Last night I wasn't feeling well so I went to bed around 8. I'd had BH most of the afternoon and a bad headache, hubby came in to read and be there if I needed anything which was super sweet.....except he fell asleep after about 30 mins and proceeds to snore super loudly lol. So I got up, wrapped Xmas presents and cleaned the kitchen and went back to bed about 1. Also I realized once I got back into bed that 6 weeks from then they would have kicked off my induction so I lay there thinking about that for a while longer. So over the insomnia! @DrillSergeantCat sorry you are sick on top of the insomnia, doesn't seem fair.

I'm due 2 months from today and I'm usually right on the bandwagon telling women to suck it up and deal with it, but after this past week of averaging 4 hours of sleep, I'm starting to understand the desire to suck down some castor oil.
During my last pregnancy, I had some sinus pressure from too much mucus. I took Tylenol cold and sinus to help with the mucus so that I could breathe. I used a lot of Vick vapor rub to open up my nasal passages bc I can't sleep if I breathe through my mouth. The only thing that you can't take are NSAID'S or aspirin. Check with ur doctor by calling in but this should help u.
If I'm not taking any or other meds, I took Tylenol pm for the last month of all of my pregnancies. It helps with the body aches. You wake up drowsy in the morning but that's what caffeine is for.
I took a Unisom last night and slept for 8 hours! I did wake up at least once to pee, but that's better than 4 hours of sleep waking up 4 times to pee. Now I'm groggy but like @FunnyGal18 said, that's what caffeine is for.

Haha just kidding, I go eat ice cream. Why better to do when you're miserable?!
Sorry I'm no help, just empathizing!
Also a back rub from DH isn't bad either
