Is it possible to have back labor and nothing else? I've been having horrible back pain that comes and goes for the last couple of hours but no cramping or anything. FTM here.
I was having horrible back pain that was coming and going for 4 days I went to the hospital just to get check to make sure I hadn't dilated anymore turns out I have a raging bladder infection!
I just had my son on Wednesday. He wasn't due until the 24th of Jan. but my water broke this past Sunday. That's pretty much what I had. The pain was all in my lower back and hips. I had some cramping accompanying the back pain but let me tell you, OUCH! If it were not for the epidural, I don't think I could have focused on giving birth to him for the life of me. As I look back on Sunday, before I went into the hospital, I was experiencing some lower back pain. Nothing too serious, but it turns out that they were contractions.
My friend and mother of 2 told mecshe only gets back labor and has never felt a front contraction. She was able to deliver naturally too. Crazy! The 2 back contractions I've had knocked me out almost. I feel for you.
I had mostly back labor with my first born and I had a bad backache the day before I went to the hospital. Looking back that was probably contractions and not a regular backache. He was a preemie but I was able to deliver him vaginally without pain meds. I'm hoping to avoid back labor this time around since this will be a much bigger baby, at least twice as big hopefully! I'd like to go without pain meds again so no back labor would be great.
I'm wondering if any Moms had back labor with one baby and not with others. Or is it more of just how your body responds. I know back labor can be made worse if baby is in a posterior position but I'm not sure how that can be avoided since my ob said the baby can change at anytime before or even during labor.
I'm a ftm and not an expert but I believe back labor has to do with the position of the baby. Supposedly doing circles with your hips can help the baby turn into the preferred position and can stop back labor, even if you are already in labor. At least that's what we were told in the class we took.
I've just never felt anything like this before omg it was painful. But this morning it seems to have eased off. I have a scheduled c section for 1/8 so hopefully he decides to stay out for right now. Lol DH is so worried I will have him in the bathroom at home with the way I've been feeling. I was checked yesterday and I'm only 1cm and 50% effaced so I should have plenty of time.
