August 2016 Moms

Intro

Hi ladies, DH and I just got our first BFP this past week and due date is end of August. I had been off BC for over a year and my cycles were crazy irregular so I saw an RE at the beginning of this month that did an US and told me I was getting ready to O so we DTD EOD that week and now here we are. Best Xmas present ever!

So far this pregnancy has been a whirlwind as I had a corpus luteum cyst rupture last weekend which landed me in the hospital over night so that was something new. My hcg level was pretty low when they checked it because it was so early, a week before my AF is even due, so I'm getting another level drawn this Friday. I'm also getting a repeat US Tuesday to check everything out.

Anyways, hoping for good numbers Friday and to be able to stay here with you all! Happy Holidays everyone!

So, since you had one rupture is it possible you O'd twice? Does it work that way? I remember you from TTC with your temps and the ultrasound that said you were about to ovulate after you thought you did. I think you need a corpus luteum to sustain progesterone and you obviously still are, so there has to be a functioning one still in there, right? Suggesting there were two. Sending lots of prayers all is ok.

I honestly don't know, the ER docs were clueless. My RE dr was the one that came in to see me and he was the one to explain to me what happened. He said the cyst was on the right side, which is the side he said I was preparing to O from. He didn't mention anything about taking supplements, although I've read online it's common to take if this happens. Besides monitoring my hgb he didn't seem concerned at all and said he sees this pretty often. He mainly wanted to recheck my hcg because he can't completely rule out an ectopic just yet :/ I'm just hoping Friday shows some good numbers and that the little bean sticks.

    Edited for spelling.

  • It would be interesting to find out if you did ovulate twice. Maybe ask him if it comes to mind.

I had something similar happen with my son's pregnancy, minus the rupture. I ovulated, temp shift, and then geared up to ovulate again afterwards, but the follicle failed to ovulate and became a large cyst. Confirmed by ultrasound. It really made charting and determining true ovulation day hard those first few weeks bc I had two surges.
  • I really hope all is ok. I am sure it is

Thank you @DDRRT1982 I hope everything is too. I'll see him again Tuesday and will have to ask him his thoughts. I'm still taking my temp, that way if starts to drop I feel like I'll be prepared. So far it's been staying up.

My RE called me today and said he wants me to start taking progesterone supplements which from what I read is the usual treatment after all this. I'm not sure if it's low, no levels have been drawn but it makes me feel betted to have a little boost!

  • I am glad to read that he is being proactive. If you haven't experienced any bleeding I doubt your progesterone is low. I imagine you had some bleeding with the rupture, but no new bleeding is a good sign. If not, now you have progesterone to help.

I actually didn't have any bleeding that came out, I bleed internally from the cyst but I never saw blood which is why I didn't understand what was going on. I got a redraw of hcg today and it went from 43 on Sunday to 666, which helped relieve some of the worry for sure.

  • That is an awesome doubling time and with no bleeding sounds like everything is going great. I am glad to hear.
