Infertility

New Girl

Hi all,

I'm new to this site and wanted to introduce myself! My name is Emma, I'm 26 been married since August 2013 and DH and I have been trying now since Aug 2014. I was diagnosed with PCOS in May this year and feel like I have been dragged through a hedge backwards since then! I don't ovulate at all and been told that I need to lose weight before we can try clomid. I find losing weight so hard I can eat like a rabbit for weeks and still gain weight :( I'm on Metformin to help but have had to switch to extended release recently. I am due to see the consultant 18th Jan and still have around 8lb left to lose before we can get clomid. Anyway... just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself!

Hi @EmP1989 - welcome to our little community. Sorry to hear about your ovulatory problems as well as the weight concerns. Sometimes diet isn't quite enough on its own unfortunately (annoying when you are trying so hard I imagine). Do you have an exercise regimen in place at all? What did you mean by consultant? RE?

Exciting to be starting clomid. It makes you a little crazy though fyi (or for me at least haha... like REAL crazy). A good first step. How many rounds are you considering?

  • Hello Emma, welcome! The ladies here are wonderful and can share tips and stories. Best of luck on the last 8 lbs. Do you have a work out plan? Or a friend/DH that will work out with you? That always helped me. I got the you need to lose weight speech myself. I kept at it and though I'm not where I want to be they gave me the ok. Best of luck.
  • Welcome! I just joined the board as well. I am also taking metformin. If your trying to loose weight we can be workout accountability partners! Its always better if you have someone doing it with you! Hope everything works out. What dose of metformin are they having you take?

  • Welcome to the boards. I also have PCOS and was diagnosed last year around this time. It was recommended that I loose a few pounds by my gyno. I didn't listen and went to fertility specialist instead. Good luck!
  • Hi Emma! I have PCOS too, and need to lose weight, although it wasn't a barrier to me starting treatment (Letrozole). I'm 9dpo right now but if this cycle isn't successful I'm taking some time off to focus on getting in better shape. Welcome and good luck!
