"It's the most wonderful time of the year"...to be pregnant?

Hey Mamas!

I was talking with a coworker earlier who commented on how quickly my pregnancy has flown by and how when she was pregnant a few years ago (her son was born in September) it felt so much longer. Obviously that could be because SHE was the one that was pregnant, but it got me thinking...it really did go by super fast!!

Maybe it's just me, but being pregnant for the holidays (4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas/Hanukkah, New Years, Valentine's Day if we make it that long!" HA) really did make it fly by! So much fun stuff going on all of the time.

I'm also a FTM and don't have any other pregnancies to compare this one to, but it's seems like "the most wonderful time of the year" to be pregnant!

What was your favorite holiday you've celebrated this year with your growing family?

Happy Holidays Ladies we are almost done!! :)

  • Normally Christmas is hands down my favorite holiday, but this year it's been hard to move around and feel the energy of the season because I have no energy myself. So this pregnancy I am most looking forward to Valentine's Day. I'm due on the 21st so when that particular holiday rolls around it'll mean that the business of the holiday season, baby shower and prepping for the baby is all over. On Valentine's Day I'll be able to give my boys (DH and DS) all of my love and effort and just wait for my newest Valentine to arrive.

  • Honestly I feel like the holidays haven't been as much fun for me because I'm pregnant, and therefore can't drink, and I don't have as much energy to party with friends and family. But I do agree that the months have flown by! I guess if I had to choose I would say Christmas, only because this time of year always gives me the warm-fuzzies, and even more so now that I'm thinking of my LO to come.
  • It has made things go faster for me for sure. That being said, I have been looking forward to Christmas being my last outing other than pregnancy related stuff. Now I'm getting nervous that I won't be going anywhere. My body is not coping very well.

  • Thanksgiving so far. My doctor had given me the orders to "eat all day, whatever the hell you want" the Tuesday before. So I ate SO. MUCH. FOOD.
As for Christmas, I am not excited about going all the places, but there will be newborns everywhere so that makes it okay :)
  • This pregnancy has felt soooo long to me. But I think it's mainly related to not feeling well for the entire pregnancy, and unrelated external circumstances. And maybe partly because it's my third pregnancy and my 3 and 1 year olds are...exhausting.

@BabySeaTurtles I'm due the 22nd so I know how you feel!!! I looking forward to the holiday to really get to enjoy my husband and do dinner and a movie while it's just the two of us. This Valentine's Day will be different for sure!
  • I agree this pregnancy has gone by fast! I think for me it's having a toddler to take care of. Not as much time to count down exactly how many days until February are left, haha. I found out I was pregnant with my son in January and had him in October and that went on forEVER. The summer was soooo long.

I'm enjoying Christmas I guess! Good reason to eat lots of Christmas goodies. :) I think I enjoyed Halloween the least because I felt very restricted about what I could dress up as.

I'm a STM and I have to say it did go by super fast!  But alot of factors go into that.  With my first, my husband was away for about half the pregnancy, which made things drag because I missed him.  My sister (and best friend) was also gone about half the pregnancy overseas, so that made it drag also.

I think the holidays definitely make things go by quicker.  We get busy with all the activity and suddenly its here!  I just realized that I'm due in a month and a half!  Thats insane!!!!  I'm suddenly not feeling prepared at all!

However, this being said, I agree with someone else who said the holidays haven't been as much fun.  I can't eat how I want or when I want.  I'm exhausted all the time and can't seem to ever get anything done.  Pros and cons I suppose.  I'm ready for this pregnancy to be over!

  • I also feel like the holidays haven't been as fun while pregnant. Also, I have kind of boycotted Halloween and Christmas this year because they have never been my favorites and this will be the last year I don't have to go all out for almost two decades!
  • I am interested to see how my New Year's Eve goes... SO and I go to Florida every year for it, but this year we're going with family and I'm going to be 34 weeks pregnant... So it'll be interesting...

  • Yeeeah, everyone keeps telling me 'omg i can't believe how far along you are, i feel like you just got pregnant!' and i personally feel the opposite, like i've been pregnant for a year or something. the holidays haven't really made things feel like they're flying by for me. i guess everyone's different  :)

  • Missing every single holiday drinking event has NOT been wonderful. And being bloated-but-not-pregnant all summer was also less than ideal.
